Tasted by caroleandjay on 5/16/2022: So - a little entry problem in CT. One was 2011 - 93; One was 2012 - 90. both purchased at auction. Perhaps these Dookers should be consumed a little younger. The 12 was losing it's Fruit a bit, which made it "undookerlike"....
The 11 had power, both red and black fruit, with earth and just a bit of oak.
12 had smoked meats, iron and tobacco, with the fruit clearly in the background. Still delicious, just unlike any dooker i've had before - most of which I drink ridiculously young. (1084 views)
Tasted by gamlingman on 2/12/2022 & rated 90 points: This is a seriously good wine, with a big nose of dark fruits and licorice giving way to bursting flavors that are big and round then finishing with a very nice spice at the end. Being a Shiraz does not lend itself to the chunky tannins I prefer but this absolutely made the dinner last night. Decanted for 1 hour. (1244 views)
Tasted by Tony Simo on 6/18/2021 & rated 92 points: This is still a big dine with plenty of fruit. You can definitely feel the burn of the alcohol but still remains easy drinking (1660 views)
Tasted by Sanlucar on 4/9/2021 & rated 92 points: Aussie fruit bombs don't get much bigger than this. A total circus of fun flavors and well balanced (60 Shiraz + 40 Cab Sauv) but with higher alcohol and a shorter finish than most Mollydooker wines. And yet I always find a place for these enormous wines in my wine collections. (1885 views)
Tasted by weinmatt on 5/25/2020 & rated 91 points: My experience with this is much like the past few notes. A thoroughly enjoyable bottle of wine, much more mellow and balanced than the Carnival of Love, with more leather and more anise and more dark chocolate. Some would call this a fruit bomb. I say, if you accept it for what it is, it’s not bad! (2208 views)
Tasted by Shay.Aldriedge on 8/7/2019 & rated 91 points: While I don’t buy a lot of Mollydooker due to its style normally being a touch more than I enjoy, this was a pleasant surprise. I expected a glycerin fruit bomb, even at 7yrs of age. Aromatically, there is baked black cherry, toasted dates, currant, and channeling some savory dark cocoa. Even some potpourri to highlight the touch of age here. The fruit itself isn’t overly ripe. Extremely smooth on the palate with hardly any acidity or tannin. A touch of red & black licorice, ripe blackberries and black cherries with some charcoal. Tart finish. I don’t think this is getting any better, so drink up.

After a decant: tannins have beefed up. More chalky and the fruit itself is more tart. Not necessarily a drink now type wine, but I still believe it’s not getting better.

Day 2: more balanced and smooth. Drinking at its best. (2075 views)

Tasted by Dr. Bee on 12/2/2017 & rated 93 points: Last of the 2012. Mellowed out since last year. Big on black cherry out of the bottle. After 3 hours, really stitched together in complexity. (2513 views)
Tasted by Millennial Drinkers on 4/1/2017 & rated 91 points: Super dark purplish red. Layered and complex nose with notes of cassis, black cherries, cinnamon, vanilla, caramel and even more red berries. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus bodied. Needed the 'Shake'. Still a bit of heat with tons of red berries, and a little graphite. Give it a long decant. Drink till 2022. (2970 views)
Tasted by Dr. Bee on 12/9/2016 & rated 94 points: Decanted 2 hours.

Really opens the next day.

Classic Sarah & Sparky but quite spicy.

Very enjoyable but only 1 bottle left! (2887 views)

Tasted by Guns&Wine on 10/10/2015 & rated 92 points: True to form, this wine in particular was bold and flavorful. It took a bit of decanting (2hrs) but the jammy berries come through. I only wish that they used a bit more Shiraz and less of the Cab as it does have a stronger heat from the alcohol.
All in all, an excellent representation of mollydooker vision. Just be sure you do the shake before tasting. (2707 views)
Tasted by Johnfromspokane on 7/24/2015 & rated 92 points: Impressive wine. Having had the Two Hands Harry and Edwards' Garden Shiraz recently, this one struck me (as it should) as not quite as fleshy, opulent, and velvety, but with more power from the cabernet in the blend. I got more robust tannins, more capsaicin than menthol, a nice blend of red and black fruit, and earthiness. Reflected qualities of excellent Australian cab and shiraz, and finished smooth despite the high alcohol. Honestly, at this quality, the acid, alcohol, and structure could make this wine last another 10-15 years, and probably could pick up several more points in the process. A delight. (2989 views)
Tasted by TRussell on 7/15/2015: Very jammy with nice pepper undertones. Tobacco. Opened up nicely 1 hour in decanter. (2803 views)
Tasted by NJRosenut on 5/3/2015 & rated 94 points: Nothing subtle about this wine. If your tastes tend toward nuance, pass this by. However, if you love winemakers pushing limits and maintaining balance....this is for you. All the elements are jacked up, yet balanced. Dark fruit, meat, thick mouthfeel, tannin, acidity, high alcohol.....all there, but nothing overpowers. Brilliant wine. (2809 views)
Tasted by Wine&guns on 3/11/2015 & rated 93 points: Beautifully thick and full of flavor. 2/3 Shiraz 1/3 Cab Sav this baby packs a punch and I love it. Not as tasty as its 2012 Carnival of Love, but this is a wonderful blend of two quintessential grapes from a solid winemaker. Cheers!! (2304 views)
Tasted by Codeman_44 on 2/26/2015 & rated 93 points: Drinking amazing right now even though it's young. You can taste the 16% alc in this but the rest of the lush fruit really helps mellow it all out. This is going to be awesome in a few years if you can restrain yourself. (2215 views)
Tasted by gravedee on 2/18/2015 & rated 93 points: Very nice over the top cab / shiraz blend. High alcohol content, so if you don't like that style, you won't like this. Lots for everything - fruit, flavor, tannins, heat. Full bodied and about as deep dark red as it ever gets. Inky texture. At $50 I guess it's a good value - maybe if you search harder you can find better values out there, but it's at a fair price / quality ratio. (1895 views)
Tasted by Mr Ego on 9/1/2014: Elegance of the cabernet with shiraz spice Big wine (1290 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 7/12/2014 & rated 93 points: The 2012 Enchanted Path is dark inky purple colored, full bodied, rich thick concentrated and complex with varietal Cabernet notes of ripe black and blue berry and plum with clove, spice and layers of chocolate and anise, with supple creamy mouth-feel and chewy tannins on nicely polished balanced finish.

Tasted by CamWheeler on 4/15/2014 & rated 82 points: Monthly Lunch - April: Blueberry, chocolate, charcoal and a massive dose of oak and alcohol. Alcohol and traces of bitterness behind the intense fruit. This is dreadful. (2913 views)
Tasted by JerM on 3/8/2014: (tasting@mollydooker) A shiraz-cab blend, this shows big blue fruits, poster color, immensely chewy concentration. Fruit forward. best to spread on toast. (2982 views)

Cabernet-Shiraz Blend

A very popular blend in Australia-particularly from South Australia, where the two varietals work well together. The most famous of these would be the Penfolds Bin 389, considered Australia's most cellared wine. In years gone by this was referred to as "Baby Grange" as some of the wine used barrels from the vintage of Grange.

The 2018 Paternus states only McLaren Vale Shiraz (no Cab Sav).
