Community Tasting Notes (average 88.8 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 30 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by winchester-xi on 5/12/2022: Very pretty. Not much tannin left but not particularly tertiary. Gentle and mouth-filling, with nice fruit, soft texture, and some mild herbal notes. Basic wine that can age. (444 views)
Tasted by winchester-xi on 8/23/2019: Ibid. (984 views)
Tasted by winchester-xi on 3/16/2019: The color has lost a bit of its sheen, with just a hint of browning at the rim. Juicy red plum and blackberry with damp soil and a slight licorice edge. Nothing herbal or green. The chalky tannins are front and center upon opening, though they recede with air. Not terribly deep or long, but the combination of vintage plus age has given this a kind of understated richness that’s very appealing. Fine to drink or hold at this point. (961 views)
Tasted by twain on 3/28/2015 & rated 91 points: Drinking wonderfully right now. Secondary aromas and flavors - forest floor , cigar box, bell pepper, dark fruits. (2464 views)
Tasted by wineshlub on 10/5/2014 & rated 92 points: Popped and poured. Aromas of green tobacco and black fruit. Rich berry flavors with a green tinge. Rich, full berry finish with a bit of mint. Knife's edge style balance, good depth, full rich flavors, complex.

Anyone who can't tolerate green flavors should stay away. Those who consider those flavors, in proportion, a feature rather than a flaw should love this wine.l (2755 views)
Tasted by sebastienjm on 8/10/2013 & rated 89 points: Fruit du cabernet avec une belle maturité, bouche ronde et gouleyante, pourtant pas dénuée de structure, un très beau vin à moins de 10euros. (3422 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 3/8/2013 & rated 89 points: Almost black in color. Nice earthy nose of cherry. Tastes of blackcherry, raspberry, anise, and earth. Well balanced. Bell pepper dominates the finish with some barnyard notes. Interesting wine. Decent QPR. 13% alcohol. (3858 views)
Tasted by twain on 1/18/2013 & rated 91 points: Intense bell pepper and earth on the nose. Medium weight, nicely balanced zip and tannin. More bell pepper in the mouth with baked cherry, finishes salty. Lingers quite a bit, especially the salinity. (3356 views)
Tasted by Zoltán Németi on 8/30/2012 & rated 87 points: Dark purple. Funky nose with good intensity, shows animal, leathery notes, green peppers, coriander, bay leaf, and sour, but perfectly ripe dark berries, like blackberries, sour cherries and dried plums. Linear Cabernet palate, but has some density. Good, integrated acidity, smooth texture, medium plus, perfectly ripe tannins. Has structure, but not so firm that it needs long ageing, already approachable. A classic, mid-weight Loire Cab Franc. 87-88 points (2860 views)
Tasted by ecola on 7/5/2012 & rated 89 points: Red berries upfront and a little black pepper also. Medium body. Solid acidity and dry finish. Would pair well with saucy meat or chicken dishes. (2536 views)
Tasted by defnefferson on 4/16/2012 & rated 88 points: Very well made wine, but a little too fruity. I think 9 out of 10 people would like this quite a bit, but it lacked the vegetal flavors that I really like in Chinons. A more fruit-forward style. (1973 views)
Tasted by Fat cat on 12/2/2011 & rated 89 points: Deep red colour with savoury aromas. Classic cabernet franc, lots of cherry with spicy secondary flavours. Well balanced with quite smooth tanins; the acidity providing freshness. Long finish. Still young this ought to do well with a bit of age. Good QPR at EUR 8.50 (2087 views)
Tasted by Vennu on 11/22/2011 & rated 88 points: Hedelmäinen (2116 views)
Tasted by wrrntl on 11/14/2011: The nose is a mixture of fruit and crushed carbonic earth. The fruit is more brambly on the palete but over all this wine is quite smooth. The finish is tremendous and lingering. This is a well rounded, fruit forward expression of Bourgueil. (2093 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 11/3/2011 & rated 90 points: New Releases at Weygandt (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): Dark purple color in the glass. The nose is a wonderful medley of black olive and black cherries, and I also get a distinct paprika and even a curry aroma. I love the nose. The palate is a pure burst of fresh cherry fruit. The tannins are chewy and it's all wrapped up with flavors of meat, olive and iron. This is a more bombastic style of cabernet franc, but I really enjoyed it. (2486 views)
Tasted by NiklasW on 11/2/2011 & rated 89 points: Tasted at the restaurant E. Ekblom in Turku. Mmm, this had a very nice nose of meaty green paprika aromas, dark fruit. On the palate this was fresh, with good tannins, bright fruits like rasberry and blackberry. A very enjoyable wine. (2233 views)
 Tasted by kosmik on 10/5/2011 & rated 88 points: 13% d'alcool, 100% Cabernet Franc

Tasted by thomasito2001 on 8/28/2011 & rated 90 points: Quite dark color for a Bourgueil, the nose is immediately available with ripe fuits dominating, some pepper. Very enticing nose. Palate is reasonnably fresh, some sweetness and a sligthly hollow mid-palate. Tannins have melted. Although not heavy in any way, the wine could use a little more "zip" from the acidity for my taste. Very good wine, easy to drink but which lacks a bit of "elan" (2105 views)
Tasted by ecola on 8/10/2011 & rated 90 points: Aromas of black pepper, red raspberry, and celery. I really love the nose on this. Medium body with lovely flavors of red berries and more black pepper. Has a mineral stoney feel. Very tight grip on the finish. (1994 views)
Tasted by Capt Cutlass on 5/23/2011 & rated 86 points: A little funky start to the nose followed by black currants, a hint of volatility (which improved on airing), licorice and burnt caramel. Light-bodied with red fruit acidity, grainy tannins and a licorice finale. An uncomplicated summer wine to be served slightly chilled. Perhaps even better next summer... (2383 views)
Tasted by Villon on 3/20/2011 & rated 88 points: Très digeste, beau fruit, sans notes végétales appuyées. Moins structuré que le 2005. Le genre de rouge qu'on aime boire durant l'été. (2504 views)
