Tasted by forceberry on 12/20/2019 & rated 91 points: 13% alcohol.

Moderately translucent and still surprisingly youthful dark cherry red color. Juicy, earthy and still quite youthful nose with aromas of blackcurrant juice, some woody pencil shaving tones, a little bit of earthiness, a sweet hint of cooked bell pepper and a touch of autumnal leaves. The wine is dry and enjoyably crunchy on the palate with medium body and bright flavors of redcurrants and fresh blackcurrants, some peppery spice, a little bit of woody pencil shavings character, light notes of autumnal leaves, a sweet hint of cooked bell pepper and a touch of ripe raspberries. Good focus and nice sense of place here. The overall feel is enjoyably structured with its high acidity and quite firm and even slightly tough medium tannins. The finish is dry, crunchy and gently grippy with long flavors of redcurrants, some sour cherry bitterness, fresh blackcurrants, a little bit of stony minerality, light woody notes of pencil shavings, an autumnal hint of damp leaves and a touch of chopped chili.

A very nice, fresh and still remarkably youthful effort for a simple entry-level Chinon for a large producer. Going very strong even at the age of 10 years. Although not a particularly fruity or ripe wine, this was a completely different wine from the rather thin and weedy vintage 2011 I tasted a few years back. This offers lots of classic Cabernet Franc typicity and while the wine seems to be drinking pretty well at the moment, I can imagine the wine will continue to develop at least another 5 years of so, if not more. Good value at 16,49€. (907 views)
Tasted by cos65 on 2/17/2019: Served blind.
Medium light garnet purple
Fruity kirsch nose
Light raspberry flavors
Lowish alcohol,
Light, but balanced acidity
A bit thin with a leafy herbal finish
Still an easy light CF and not getting any better, but holding up perfectly. Probably drink up soon while it still has some freshness (497 views)
Tasted by cos65 on 7/18/2015: Light raspberry flavors with some herbal notes. With a slight chill, this is a nice light outdoor picnic wine (1105 views)
Tasted by wineretriever on 11/24/2013 & rated 85 points: Raspberry, bell and poblano pepper, green herbs, tobacco leaf, and cedar on the nose. Green, herbal characteristics dominate the palate with tart red fruit and crushed stone in the background. (1524 views)
Tasted by avp on 1/17/2013: Red and dark berry nose with slight graphite, herbs and milky oak.
Medium bodied and quite extracted palate with cassis to blackberry fruit, refreshing acidity and some tannic bite. Graphite, herbs and slight liquorice.
Rather primary though structured wine with dark profile and extracted feel. May time help. (2048 views)
Tasted by Beaudreaux on 10/30/2012 & rated 84 points: Earthy, next bottle let sit dor a couple of years. Still fruity and dry. (1497 views)
Tasted by cos65 on 9/9/2012: lovely light raspberry cab franc. A very easy, tasty wine. Would serve with just a slight chill. *** (1547 views)
