Community Tasting Notes (average 93.4 pts. and median of 94 pts. in 57 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by docdavid on 3/21/2024: Not quite ready for prime time still young
Dark purple not much nose somewhat thin may improve in 3-4 years (846 views)
Tasted by lewisrise on 12/2/2023 & rated 96 points: Deep Ruby with medium plus intensity, developing aromas of violet, raspberry, anise, cinnamon, nutmeg, and fruitcake. This is a full body port, with a very long finish with a pallet that matches the aromas. (1350 views)
Tasted by Racer117 on 7/2/2023 & rated 92 points: Unsurprisingly, much better on night 2. From a half bottle. Plenty of dark and red berry fruit, plum, spices. Alcohol well integrated, rather sweet. (1792 views)
Tasted by R Z on 12/25/2020 & rated 94 points: Opened a half bottle of the Warre's 2011 as my Christmas port. Power, dripping black, blue and red fruit, developed serious length with some air. Not as opulent as Taylor Fladgate, but entirely correct young vintage port. (4063 views)
Tasted by dalemosier on 9/29/2020 & rated 94 points: Very smooth, rich taste of cherry, fig. Someone earlier said a cross between fine wine and port - agree, not as heavy as expected. Will see how it changes over the next several days with some house guests. (4095 views)
Tasted by chatters on 6/25/2020: Plummy and rich, plenty of sweet spices. Juicy and fleshy, off dry, rich, tight, tannic burr, alcohol warmth is very present but not massively over done...actually this is very approachable. Just lovely. I've always been an 'old' port man...my encounters with this wine over the last couple of years (and the 03 and 07) have changed that impression. I'm now just a port man. (4312 views)
Tasted by Jchen01854 on 5/28/2020: It's different this time brownish red with distinct fruit favor of banana base. Ripe fruit with idine and grip and smooth tannin. (3884 views)
Tasted by Rico100 on 5/10/2020 & rated 90 points: not quite as rich as I was hoping but still quite nice. (3785 views)
Tasted by Jchen01854 on 1/1/2020: Purplish inky, especially from the cork. good viscosity. Taste like figs with slight bitterness. Offdry. Smooth yet feel some alcohol. Not sure I agree on the high scores, none the less, it's enjoyable. (2579 views)
Tasted by gagrapes on 12/30/2019 & rated 96 points: Delicious! (2356 views)
Tasted by chatters on 5/2/2019: Decanted and consumed over three days under argon. Baked cherry, a little fig, vanilla, plenty of sweet spice and a smidge of crushed walnut. On the palate it's off dry, rich, creamy but surprisingly approachable, tannins are fairly negligible, it's very well integrated and balanced, arguably to the point of elegance in fact. A little more plummy than cherry fruit with a slight strawberry note. Lovely. (3254 views)
Tasted by dclaggett on 4/17/2019 & rated 94 points: Thick, rich, blue fruit, dark chocolate cake, spice cake, sweet profile, full mouthfeel, med plus length/finish. (2933 views)
Tasted by Snowryeder on 12/26/2018 & rated 94 points: Starting to develop nice complexity. Drinking well (375). Blue fruit and spices. Delicious. (2700 views)
Tasted by Coachron13 on 10/26/2018 & rated 97 points: A great vintage port. Tastes like a cross between a fine wine and a great port. Loved it. (2800 views)
Tasted by mvande21 on 10/19/2018 & rated 95 points: Classic port from a great vintage. Sweet black and red fruit with perfect balance, acidity, fine tannins and long finish. Love it. (2335 views)
Tasted by nzinkgraf on 11/3/2017: Significant tannin on the palate, medium plus. Purple hued rim that has faded to garnet in the 2003. Very chewy expression.

Similar quality level to 1994, 1997, 1963. (3962 views)
Tasted by rikipedia on 8/7/2017 & rated 90 points: Terroir-istes International - Portugal, Port (Groot Constantia): (Tasted Blind): A deep black-to-red colour, fading to the rim. Complex bouquet evoking moist Christmas pudding, dried currants, prune, pomegranate jam, dust and a touch of cinnamon.
The palate exhibits elements of wafer, chocolate and coffee granules with a notably firm texture that carries through to the tannins yet still maintains a pleasing sweetness. Some felt it lacked some structure, yet I felt the tannins work nicely if a little brutish. It has concentration, and the mid-palate delivers more dried blueberry, prune and blackcurrant compote notes and lively acidity, adding vibrancy to the mid-palate. Fresh, elegant and dances along despite its tannic structure - more an athlete replete with muscle. Long finish with a warming, almost hot, sensation, indicating higher alcohol content. Complex and would benefit from ageing. (1012 views)
Tasted by SlimShaney on 5/5/2017 & rated 92 points: Autumn forest of spiced Halloweed brandy concentrate. (4650 views)
Tasted by SlimShaney on 2/5/2017 & rated 93 points: Classic port nose, autumn forest fallen branches supporting spiced orange leaves.

Tingles the tastebuds. Too young. Wine meets brandy.

Delightful. I could definitely drink this again. And again. (4459 views)
Tasted by Man in Black on 11/20/2016: Deep ruby colour. The nose shows pronounced intensity aromas of ripe dark cherries, dark plums, liquorice, chocolate and hints if coffee.

The wine is sweet in the mouth with a medium- acidity. It has high fine-grained tannins and a high warm alcohol. It is full-bodied with pronounced intensity flavours and a long finish.

It is a very good quality wine. It has a persistent finish and a remarkable fruit concentration well-balanced by the tannic structure. However a better example of this style would show more complexity. (4492 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 3/12/2016 & rated 91 points: Deep purple, brilliant ruby highlights, clear, shiny; Raspberry and blackberry notes with licorice, herbs, with a bright spicy note; very silky, glycerin, a bit disjointed with alcohol showing. Young, needs time, as all of the 2011's do, but this was the least approachable of the 5 2011's we tried. Vintage Port Tasting 2011-1963. (5200 views)
Tasted by cristian_m on 2/7/2016 & rated 91 points: Drank from split. Decanting didn't do much for it in terms of getting any sediment out or getting some air into it. Overall this wine is very pleasing. Good concentration, nice and inky dark in the glass, plenty of heat on the nose and palette. Coats the mouth nicely and the texture is good if a bit grainy due to it being so young. Blue fruits in abundance, and in terms of vintage port its relatively soft, gentle and approachable now, though very much closed down and primary. The wine is too approachable really, the tannins are tight but moderate and the overall balance plays to the youthful side. Again, a really good wine and one to enjoy now and into the near/midterm. I'll look to other offerings from this vintage for the really long haul in the cellar. (4057 views)
Tasted by Surfdoc on 1/8/2016 & rated 93 points: Dense, concentrated grapes and dark berries with smooth, warming brandy on the finish. Yummy! (3560 views)
Tasted by yofog on 11/4/2015: Great concentration, solidity, the huge ripe blue fruit powering through from start to finish, and with big but round tannins. Not quite the excitement of the very best but damn close. (4027 views)
Tasted by Mtnmd1 on 9/6/2015 & rated 93 points: Young, tight, even having been open and recorked for a time. Didn't budge an inch with the extra air in the bottle. Still delicious and accessible though. (3579 views)
