Tasted by Johno's Cellar on 5/21/2022 & rated 90 points: The original green hues of flavour have softened to be sweater and more golden. Wine is still balanced and enticing with lots of gooseberry and very ripe kiwi fruit and yellow capsicum. Acidity is lively to keep the wine fresh and not cloying. (749 views)
Tasted by grapenomad on 6/7/2019 & rated 92 points: Pale lemon green. Medium (+) intensity of aromas - green capsicum, tomato leaf, asparagus, pickles, lime. Still holding on. Proper representative of New Zealand and their signature grape variety. Drink up. (2402 views)

Tasted by Captain Pinard on 1/7/2019 & rated 85 points: Fruit faded, acidity still there. Waited too long. (2078 views)

Tasted by s******n on 12/26/2016 & rated 90 points: Schöner Sauvignon Blanc. Sehr fruchtig, typisch neue Welt. Wenig Säure, wie für einen SB zu erwarten (2191 views)
| Tasted by jmcmchi on 8/17/2016 & rated 90 points: Intense gooseberry and grass developing cat's pee on nose
Acidity still vibrant, traditional gooseberry astringency on palate with that smoothness that holds it all together. Not as long as some earlier vintages, more licorice on finish than I remember (2586 views) |
Tasted by Eriksen Vejle on 8/13/2016 & rated 93 points: Absolute favorite white, Sauvignon Blanc from NZ the best Cloudy Bay 2nd to none. (1220 views)
Tasted by rjpbath on 7/19/2016 & rated 88 points: Frankly underwhelming. This is full of flavour, and has good length, but where is the acid? It is just too bland, and I am disappointed. At this level/price one expects much more. (2621 views)
Tasted by SeaCellar on 6/27/2016 & rated 90 points: Very crisp. Grapefruit on the palate. Always one of the most reliable Kiwi whites. (2268 views)
Tasted by crushingvine on 1/23/2016 & rated 85 points: Usual lovely nose of apples, pears and some melon but acidity was a bit too overbearing and I found it slightly unbalanced as a result and with a slightly bitter aftertaste. I have had better from CB. (3023 views)
Tasted by S-C-S on 1/16/2016 & rated 91 points: Anazing to drink it now .., (2650 views)
| Tasted by Callum's Corkers on 1/6/2016 & rated 85 points: Tasted Christmas Day 2015, with rolled loin of pork from Hares Farm, Chequers Estate, Buckinghamshire.
Disappointing. this wine has nothing near the restrained intensity and sustained length/charm it had when Kevin Judd was making it for CB 1980s to 1990s before he moved to Greywacke. Pale colour. Nose of gooseberries, a nice hint of wet wool. Wimpy light body in mouth, no lush ripe fruit (from 2013 ??, one of the better years recently in Marlborough), short, simple and ordinary. It is not mature, tho' I really don't think it has the power/concentration/complexity to devel' into anything interesting anyway.
VFM? At approx £20.00, rubbish VFM. Won't buy again. French owners of this NZ wine have let it slip, though Cloudy Bay's Te Koko single estate Sav Blanc is way better, a superb NZ Sav Blanc, worth paying the £7 extra. (2379 views) |
Tasted by Basti on 12/24/2015: Brutales Grapefruit- und Stachelbeeraroma, sehr trocken, mineralisch. (2122 views)
Tasted by bjschmitt on 11/8/2015 & rated 90 points: With chicken stuffed with fontina and sage, and squash baked with caramelized onion. Very light yellow, almost effervescent. Grapefruit and peach on the nose - enticing. Nice balance between acid and fruit - green tart apple, grapefruit, a touch of peach. Pared very nicely with dinner. (2536 views)
Tasted by ostrich on 10/11/2015 & rated 89 points: good (1957 views)
Tasted by Tpairing on 9/3/2015 & rated 90 points: A fresh crisp wine with aromas of cut-grass with green fruits - green apple. Mineral taste is there combined within the fruit. An excellent wine for food and so good enjoyed on its own. (2111 views)
Tasted by Paul S on 8/22/2015 & rated 89 points: Lunch at Jin Fine Dining (Jin, Far East Square): Not bad, not great, very Cloudy Bay. Passion fruit and gooseberries and grass on the nose were met with a round, rather fleshy palate of tropical notes speared by more of that green gooseberriness. Slightly less fresh and cut than usual, but that gave the wine a rather pleasing, easy charm. The only real character was a nice minerally backbone that came out with time. Otherwise, a crowd pleaser, but this was a decent rather than great wine. (3471 views)
Tasted by diggydan on 7/8/2015 & rated 90 points: Super intense textbook sauv blanc nose. Good weight, acid, minerals, a little tart green apple fruit. Nice.$13 btg at legal sea foods. (2504 views)
Tasted by behm0027 on 6/15/2015 & rated 90 points: Solid Sauv Blanc as always from Cloudy Bay. Delicious crisp acidity, with flavors of wet stone, lemon peel, and subtle pear. (2164 views)
