There was fruit but light, the body was light and the finish was not memorable. It had the right stuff, just not enough, and no focus or interest in any particular aspect.  Tasted by sdr on 9/1/2008 & rated 88 points: The cork bottom is gray. There's a blue streak up the side of it. Could it be the Dread Disease already infecting the 2002 vintage? No, the wine is sound and smells and tastes like a well-made Puligny premier cru from good-to-excellent vintage, just what it is. While not especially distinctive, it's full flavored, round but balanced with fine acidity and a pleasure to drink. (3232 views)

Michel Colin-Deléger et Fils

Philippe Colin was quite happy with the Domaine's wines in 99, calling them ripe yet elegant with medium-term aging potential. He also suggested that because of the ample baby fat and good but not elevated acidity levels they will likely drink well all their lives. Because of the ample grape sugars, chaptalization was held to a minimum, which is to say less than half a degree for most wines. The wines saw 20 to 30% new oak and were bottled just before the harvest in August. I tasted them in February.
As is usually the case, the 99s of Domaine Colin-Deleger are elegant wines with an emphasis on finesse and detail. They are not especially dense or powerful and subscribers who favor white Burgundies that make an emphatic statement may find this set of 99s, when considered as a group, to be on the subtle side. That said, several of the wines are incredible and fully merit a place in every serious cellar.
Trivia buffs take note: there is normally a noticeable difference between the Clos St. Abdon Les Demoiselles and the Colin-Deleger version but in 99, the wines were blended and thus, there is no difference. Since the Clos St. Abdon version normally sells at a 20 to 30% discount to the Colin version, one can save a few a bucks by buying the Clos St. Abdon in 99.

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.
