(113 views)
Tasted by wickedwax on 5/7/2012: Aromas of orchard fruit, citrus, toasted oak and sesame (interesting that I picked it up again) with some baking spice and minerality. Not quite as oaky as the last time I had this -- not sure if this is because it has integrated better in the last year and half or because of bottle variation. Still, a little too much oak on the palate. While rich and full-bodied, one could hope for a little more acidity to keep it more focused. Good length. Tasting alongside a Pernot Folatieres and Pucelles, this seemed a little inferior despite its hallowed origins. (2375 views)
Tasted by Paul S on 6/4/2011 & rated 93 points: Tasting and Sale at Mood Indigo (Jalan Kilang Barat, Singapore): Excellent. It was slightly oxidative nose, with browning apples at the fore that got me very worried. Past that, there were aromas of dried lemons, dried flowers and savoury white meat and earth notes. All in all a little troubling. Thank goodness the palate was still okay though, because this was a very accomplished wine indeed. It showed lovely red apples, just with a slightly browning hint at the edges, and then lemons, spice and mineral laced with some honeyed, caramel notes. Lots of depth and grip, with lots of substance on the midpalate. The finish still had a lick of oak and a long pull of earth, stone and spice. Good weight, decent balance, lots of complexity. On the cusp of oxidation maybe, but we caught it at a good time. A lovely wine. (3529 views)
Tasted by wickedwax on 10/18/2010: aromas of toasted oak, sesame, lemon, and mushroom (almost truffle-like) earthiness. full-bodied and rich with plenty of acidity lending itself to ripe apples and oak on the palate. good length, lingering with minerality and oak. overall a good wine, but seeing as how i've already said it 3 times, a little too much oak for this taster. since it hasn't really integrated in 10 years, i doubt that the oak ever really will.  Tasted by sdr on 9/20/2008 & rated 90 points: Excellent premier cru and very Puligny; steely, perfumed in that Shalimar way. Not a hint of prem-ox despite the blue-grey streak on the cork. Not especially long in finish, but "long" in elegance that only seems to happen in this tiny bit of dirt. (2715 views)
Tasted by sdr on 7/18/2008 & rated 87 points: It's alive! The first non-oxidized bottle I've had of any C-D for a long time. I've given up hope on the '96s and '99s, so I moved on to this 2000. Not a great wine of course and a little more advanced than it should be but eminently drinkable. Light gold, open, direct, straighforward but tasty leesy and nutty wine that is distinctly Burgundian if not classicly Puligny. (2694 views)
Tasted by ChinonRouge on 9/29/2007 & rated 93 points: I can't remember this wine well enough to write a good review. However, I remember it having a tremendous buttery feel and liking it very well. (1444 views)

Michel Colin-Deléger et Fils

Philippe Colin was quite happy with the Domaine's wines in 99, calling them ripe yet elegant with medium-term aging potential. He also suggested that because of the ample baby fat and good but not elevated acidity levels they will likely drink well all their lives. Because of the ample grape sugars, chaptalization was held to a minimum, which is to say less than half a degree for most wines. The wines saw 20 to 30% new oak and were bottled just before the harvest in August. I tasted them in February.
As is usually the case, the 99s of Domaine Colin-Deleger are elegant wines with an emphasis on finesse and detail. They are not especially dense or powerful and subscribers who favor white Burgundies that make an emphatic statement may find this set of 99s, when considered as a group, to be on the subtle side. That said, several of the wines are incredible and fully merit a place in every serious cellar.
Trivia buffs take note: there is normally a noticeable difference between the Clos St. Abdon Les Demoiselles and the Colin-Deleger version but in 99, the wines were blended and thus, there is no difference. Since the Clos St. Abdon version normally sells at a 20 to 30% discount to the Colin version, one can save a few a bucks by buying the Clos St. Abdon in 99.

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
