Perhaps it is all integrated....this was very nice, served cold, with lots of pear and citrus. Very refreshing and in good shape. Very nice. (3045 views) | | Tasted by herberto on 11/27/2009 & rated 88 points: Sweet and superripe. Very forward style for a pinot grigio. I prefer this to the thin, generic pinot gigios one normally finds on the shelves, but I don't really know if this is what "classic" Friuli pinot grigio should taste like. (3218 views) | | Tasted by herberto on 5/7/2009 & rated 88 points: This had a bit of a woody taste to it, but fruit and concentration was excellent for a Pinot Grigio so I'll forgive it. (3339 views) | | Tasted by AdamWallstein on 4/25/2009 & rated 91 points: Dark yellow - gold color. Rich nose of tangerine marmalade and cream. The mouth-feel is quite fleshy almost to the point of losing all typicity, but no matter; rich, delicious guava fruits with enough acidic bite (green apples come to mind) sneaking in on the finish. Our Black Cod was very happy. (3422 views) | | Tasted by MauriceE on 4/12/2009 & rated 87 points: Indeed, this wine needs pairing with food, especially because of the large amount of wood... Combined with powerful, spicy (but not hot!) food, it's very good. (3332 views) | | Tasted by InternationalWineReport on 1/21/2009 & rated 91 points: nice golden color, showing Green apple, some pear, lemon peel, straw. (best after 2008) - JD91 (1797 views) | | Tasted by MauriceE on 11/8/2008 & rated 86 points: Paired with (quite powerful) food this wine shows its quality (see previous note when I brought this wine to a tasting). Although this is good, I cannot remember why I awarded this wine 90 points some time ago. To be honest: it's not worth 90 points, but still is a good wine. The oak is too intrusive, and since I don't like heavy oaked wines, why did I earlier say: "I guess the best expression of pinot grigio you could get"? Was it another bottle altogether??? Again: this is good, but by no means great. (1748 views) | | Tasted by MauriceE on 10/31/2008 & rated 84 points: Brought this wine to an Italy tasting, it had to be tasted blind. It was set next to the Tocai Friulano (Ronco del Gelso). This wine has a much more intense perfume, even buttery. But it has to be said: this is too much oak. It is New World style, there will certainly be admirers of this. Pairing it with food is essential. We did not decant the wine, but after an hour or so, the wine definitely improved in the glass. Impressive. (1766 views) |
