Marzeno - Faenza

Great event, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the foundation.
There were seminars on Sangiovese and Albana. This was to illustrate different ways to decline the Albana Grape: dry, passito and with Botrytis.
Our host was Journalist Francesco Falcone. Albana was compared to Chenin blanc.
Ceparano is 100% Albana. Tergeno (and the old version, As) are a Chardonnay - Albana blend, with Albana now almost entirely replacing the Chardonnay.
Passito wine. Actually a late harvest, of which, a roughly 40% goes to a naturally drying process.
Albana 100%, passing small barriques.
The wine with noble mildew that made Zerina famous outside Italy.
Grapes are hand selected with up to 8 passages in the vineyard.
Only steel ageing.
The A. R. is a selection of the selection, made with only the very best grapes in a pure Icewine style
Very impressive to testify how Albana can be a (no more) surprising wine in different styles.

Bright light golden yellow. Nice and rich at nose: agrumes, ginger, anise, peeled almond and flowery.
Dry at taste, with acidity and minerality leading to a long savory ending. Nice fruit on the background.
