La Trompette (London)

Theme was for best village wines over a relaxed dinner and tasting menue at La Trompette. Overall the quality was high and probably the whites did better. That being said the reds were also from less favoured vintages overall (including 03 and 04).
I am guilty of being a bit of 1er and Grand Cru whore so good to get a read on those top village wines. Given the price tag of Burgundy top producers though those aren't real bargains either and with the exception of possibly Coche 12 there wasn't the wine that immediately stood out to be delivering near 1er (leave alone GC) quality. The wines were overall though lovely balanced and precise.
2012 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
I like Montee Tonerre and it is probably my favorite 1er cru from Raveneau. This was another example of a great Chablis. Very good concentration, lovely melt in the mouth. This stood up well to all the other lauded white Burg producers to follow that night (3x Coche Meursault, 2x Vogue Bourgogne blanc and 1x Ente Meursault). So in that context big thumbs up.
