Introduction

Very nice event featuring mostly Grand Cru Burgs

Flight 1 (7 Notes)

  • 1997 Zind-Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Clos Windsbuhl 92 Points

    France, Alsace

Dark yellow color. Nose starts off almost a bit musty, that mostly resolves, but some remains giving it an earthy quality that is interesting, then evolves to lemons, citrus, peach and apricot notes with a hint of petrol and a toasted essence. The palate is fairly round and coating with lemon, citrus, earth, mineral, and toast. Lovely. This started at about 90+ for me and then improved significantly to 92pts.

  • 2009 Domaine Jean Descombes (Georges Dubœuf) Morgon 89 Points

    France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon

Rich dark red color. I do like the nose on this, nice, fruity, with black cherry, blackberry, flowers, and herbs. The palate was a little thin and disjointed for me.

  • 2000 Louis Jadot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru

Medium red color with significant bricking. Musty, damp earth, a little funk, meat, blood, some cherry and a bit of raspberry lurks as well, mushrooms, subtle florals and a bit of carmel. The palate is great, very consistent with the nose, medium plus finish. I love where this is at. 93+ to 94 pts and my WOTN.
