A wine-pages offline organised by Richard Shama. I've always liked the wines of Mugneret Gibourg without being a real devotee but this evening went a long way to winning me over. The Ruchottes 02 was the star, but I was very taken with all the younger wines (apart from the faulty 01) and their winning combination of pretty cherry fruit and stony substance.
2000 Bérêche et Fils Champagne Premier Cru Cuvée du Centenaire 91 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
Sweaty nose, but on the palate fresh and tangy and moreish in the Bereche way. Lovely, substantial, mouthfilling champagne

Lean, earthy, quite sharp, , but lots going on, unusual, intriguing
