A Fino-Amontillado. Surprisingly dark colour. It does smell of fino but with a touch of caramel. Good tang and bite on the attack, nicely fresh but rounding out to a long and complex finish. Aperitif but lived v well with the fizzes that followed. ****1/2
Very chalky, mineral and slightly sulphur/reductive nose (blows off quite quickly). Less austere on the palate with a slightly higher dosage than I was expecting. Starts to show a slightly honeyed note on the nose and towrds the end of the palate. More mineral than the 95 Mil, but they converge with time in glass. Just a slightly better line here. Lovely. ****1/2
Richer, more oxidative nose. Richer, slightly spicey, quite long. Nicely rounded and complete. Easy to love and drink in the same at that the burg that follows is a tad too relaxed. Just lacks a bit of verve cf the Comtes. top ****
Incredibly full, dark garnet. Very full and dense. No orange peel here, very scented with an almond milk quality to the nose. A slight woodiness on the end of the palate but that aside, it's gorgeous. Complex and complete with an intrigue that brings one back. After 90 mins this is richer and very expresso/mocha on the nose. Lovely. ****1/2 - would be ***** without that woody element.

Mid to full garnet. Quite fat and full. Very smooth and full and rounded, a little lactic, a touch of thyme on the nose and a density of fed fruit. Surprising density here without seeming artificial. As it warms up, texturally it seems very fat and ripe and glycerin-rich, not unlike a mature Chateauneuf. Lovely old Pinot, sweet fruited and soy to beef stock nose though. Very nice but possible a tad too easy. Lacks a bit of finese and complexity for me. Very smooth though. ****
Very full and slightly spiritual nose. Red fruit, a touch of spice. An initial hit of fruit but there's a medicinal, leafy edge. Green Nd pine sappy, reminds me of classy pine bath salts. Really quite interesting. I'm not a port drinker but this has interest. ****
