Slightly cloudy orange with a slight oxidative note. Very minty, like a middling vintage of Heitz Martha's. Fruit receding but still ample. Soft. A bit short at the finish. Others said this was corked, but I didn't pick it up.
Popped and poured as a backup for a flawed wine. Ripe, rich blackcurrant, complemented by a modest cedar note. Right at the start of its drinking window--primary, with a bit of tannin still interfering. Others at the table gleefully pronounced this first-growth quality. Maybe, but I'd need to see it with at least two hours of air if not another 5-10 years in the bottle.
Strong nose of tobacco and cedar. Palate *completely* dead--no fruit, no complexity, just the vestiges of tannin. No score as this might not have been a representative bottle, but if I get to try this again and it isn't any better then it's way past peak, if it ever had one. This isn't a style thing, as I was blown away by the 1970 of this wine.

Very cedary nose. Not much fruit, feels a bit thin. Soft as the tannin has faded, but still austere.

Tobacco nose. Notably acidic, with not quite enough fruit to stand up to the structure, particularly at the back end where it bites.

Very gooey-grapey. Still sharply tannic. Harsh, heavy, and overdone.

Smells like a mediocre Chateauneuf to me, with kirsch and alcohol. Sour finish.
