France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Very typical for Girardin. All butter and oak on the nose, all tart racy lemon on the palate. Needs more mineral. Powerful and enjoyable but not especially complex. Nice with shrimp cocktail with lemon remoulade though.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
To me exactly what Perrières should be. Because of the elevation and the proximity to Puligny, this is probably my favorite plot in Meursault. Lots of really rounded stony minerality and soft acidity to balance the powerful citrus and tropical fruits. Add a hint of quince and a whiff of ginger and you get a powerhouse. Geez I love Roulot wines.
While obviously a ripe 2007, acidity and balance is much better than the Champans we tasted side-by-side. The cherry is a little more tart and it shows some interesting clove.
2002 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut
France, Champagne
Young but delicious with notes of light brioche, peach and soft (poached?) lemon zest. I will expect much more minerality as it ages.

1996 Hubert Lignier Clos de la Roche
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Forest floor mushrooms with bright acidic dark cherry. Lots of crushed stone and integrated spices. A winner!

2007 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Champans
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
Very forward and ripe with a thick mouthfeel. Much more 2007 than Volnay for me. New world drinkers might enjoy this one.

2006 Aubert Pinot Noir Reuling Vineyard
USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
A little cooler and leaner than many of the Aubert wines I have tried. Dark dark cherry with solid ripeness and some minty herbs on the finish.
