France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Barrel tasting at Domaine. All red fruit aromas and flavors, incredibly bright and vibrant, modest spice. Clearly ripe but with the substance, textures structure for balance. Very good.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Barrel tasting at the Domaine. One of the most interesting tasting experiences I can recall. The regimen here is 20% new oak barrels and 20% each barrels that have 1,2,3 and 4 previous uses. Tasting through several barrels. Wine from the neutral barrels is incredibly pure, fresh and floral with sensational textures. Wine from the new oak barrel was more powerful with more spice, but less texturally interesting. The assemblage was by far the most interesting and complex.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru
Barrel tasting at the Domaine. All black fruit, great spice. Good concentration and persistence but in a manner that makes this seem less ripe than it must be. Excellent potential.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Tasting at Domaine. black fruit with some earthy and meaty character. Good density for its level with better ripeness than I've found in many Villages level 2008s.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Tasting at Domaine. Incredibly elegant aromatic start with black fruit, spice and floral elements in great harmony. This balance continues on the palate with additional support from good minerality and elegant structure. An excellent 1er with 93-94 point potential for me.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Tasting at Domaine. Very charming and forward start with red and black cherry and good meaty spice. Less dense and concentrated that its 2008 version just tasted, this is nicely fleshy and will drink well younger.
