Binny's
Tasted Saturday, December 9, 2006 by Vino Me with 1,203 views
Attended another Champagne tasting over the weekend. This one was at Binny's and they had a very good collection of sparklers to taste. Better selection than the Famous tasting the week before. The cost of this tasting was $25. There quite a few tete de cuvee's and 11 vintage champagnes. I was most interested in the Champagnes being poured by the owner of Grape News Imports. He carries a line of mostly small grower/makers and they were excellent quality (his portfolio included Fluteau, Vesselle, Arnauld, Launois and Marguet).
Here are my notes on another 24 Champagnes:
VM
NV Gosset Champagne Brut Excellence 88 Points
France, Champagne
My least favorite of the 3 Gosset wines at this tasting. 50% Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. A low bead with peanut notes and a tart finish. 87-88 points.

NV Maurice Vesselle Champagne Grand Cru Cuvée Reservée Brut 93 Points

A big full bodied wine with a chalky core. Notes of raspberry puree and freshly baked bread. 92-93 points.
