  • 2005 Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    Coravin tasting

bought 2 bottles from vinsgrandscrus.com on Oct 2010 and kept both in my wine cooler.
Coravin tasted the 1st May 1st, 2014. Was awful.
So tried Coravin tasting the 2nd bottle on Sep 4, 2014. Another disappointment!!!

Too stinky for a wine to be enjoyable. Something must be wrong with this bottle. I love CDP with all its earthy funky aromas. But this one was awful.
should be scored very low, e.g. 70 - but don't want to spoil Janasse CDP VV great records.
    what a shame…. very disappointing...

  • 2007 Le Macchiole Paleo Rosso 92 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT

    Coravin tasting
    dark red-purple-black
intense dark fruity nose with notes of spices, black pepper & smoke.
rich dark forward fruits , spicy and peppery dark oak, still very tannic and too young drink.
nevertheless, it is well balanced with great harmony.
Should be aged at least 2-3 years if not more, then it'll be enjoyable for 5-15 years.

should be decanted to enable optimal condition.

Closing

Few bottles were consumed in this event, bottles that were not Coravined 4 months ago:
- 2007 pale by Yair
- 2004 Poggio Il Castellare Brunello di Montalcino was contributed by Hanan
- 2005 Janasse CDP VV - I brought a new bottle to Coravin it, unfortunately it was flawed as well… unbelievable !
- 2007 R. Nager Rheinhessen (red dessert) by Yoram, however a mediocre wine
