• 2010 Remoissenet Père et Fils Nuits St. Georges 88 Points

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges

  Bright, pretty red fruit. Cranberry, candied cherry and a touch of spice. Light and pure, with a nice density. Simple red cherry on the palate. Light spice leads in to a medium length finish with good acidity. Not overly complex but fruit forward and enjoyable.

• 2011 Domaine Henri Boillot Volnay 1er Cru Les Chevrets 90 Points

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru

  Tasted blind. Sweet black cherry, spice box and cedar on the nose. Rich and full, with lots of black fruit (some sweet). Nicely textured mouthfeel, though a little simple. Finishes with light spice and nicely balanced acidity.

  Tasted blind. A little funky, with dark fruit and honeysuckle. More red-fruited body mixed with black cherry. Finishes with much bigger acidity and lots of tannin.

• 2012 Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Rouge 90 Points

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru

  Tasted blind. Serious funk and oak. Expensive oak. Luscious, rich, and full, with a nice density and great purity of fruit -- yet it still manages to come across as light and pretty. Finishes with fine tannins and a little astringency.

  Tasted blind. Subtle, delicate nose, with some light red fruit. Very pure, fresh, and clean on the body. Red cherry and raspberry. Nice acidity and fine tannin to finish.

  Tasted blind. Nose is dominated by oak and spice. This one's a bit tart, with red strawberry and raspberry, lots of spice and tannin.

  Tasted blind. Darker compared to the others in the flight. More black cherry, oak, and an intense concentration of fruit. Nice richness and density to the body. Finishes with lots of fine tannin, and very well balanced.

  Tasted blind. Dark, brooding nose with spice and wood. Lush and pretty, with big red cherry fruit and fine tannin. Really quite lovely.

  Tasted blind. Lovely nose filled with black cherry, flowers and spice. Elegant and lovely, with beautiful balance. Definitely more modern in style, with dense red fruit, a nice purity, and fine tannin to finish.

  Tasted blind. Wood, spice, and black cherry dominate the nose. Big bodied, with black cherry and strawberry. A touch of astringency. Finishes with fine tannin and nice length.

  Tasted blind. Tight and brooding nose, but showing promising signs. Dark, brambly berry, black cherry and spice all wound up together. Finishes with lots of acid and medium, present tannins. Definitely needs some time!

  Tasted blind. Wow. Brown sugar and cherry. Amazing purity of fruit, with red raspberry and strawberry. Dense and fruit forward, but with a lovely finish and great balance. Fine tannins and a good amount of acidity. Wine of the night!

  Tasted blind. Seems a little mature already, but still nicely perfumed. Pure red fruit, though quite tight. Drying, tart acidity to finish.
