The wines speak for themselves. The food (from Black Salt) was amazing: insane amount and diversity of oysters, shrimp, prawns, lobster, snow crabs, crab cakes, crab salad, ahi tuna. Not to mention cheese, etc. An amazing afternoon of great friends, food and wine. I jotted down random notes, nothing serious, but the wines all deserve much more time and attention than I was able to give them. Oceanic bliss.
So many good friends in one spot reminds you how awesome life is. I missed a dozen-plus wines, but that's how it goes.
I didn't attach scores to any of these wines, but if I had, they pretty much would've all been in the 90+ range.
These wines are just great. Vintage variation keeps things interesting, but the wines are beautiful, vintage-in, vintage-out. Love the depth of oceanic elements and the precision of these wines. The 97 was showing beautifully, but perhaps the 2002 just edged it out because it a bit more intensity and brightness. I'd happily drink any of these bottles over the course of an afternoon with seafood.
Gotta love Briords. The 08 was my favorite, but I'd love to taste all of these wines again in three years.
1995 Domaine Luneau-Papin Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie "L" d’Or
France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie
A bit closed and muted at first but shows a lot of minerals, melon, chalk. Not too briny, moderately floral, similar to the 2002 in its structure, but with a bit less verve.

1997 Domaine Luneau-Papin Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie "L" d’Or
France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie
Briny, focused, bright, tons of sour lemon, sea breeze, crusty jetty rocks. Creamy notes, slight honey, still plenty of life ahead. Tied with the 2002 for my favorite.

1999 Domaine Luneau-Papin Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie "L" d’Or

Bright, a bit more seashells on this one, still an attractive creaminess, plenty of acid.

2002 Domaine Luneau-Papin Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie "L" d’Or
France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie
A beautiful L d'Or, tons of cut and verve. Saline, chalk, intense and brisk with candied lemon, apricot, oyster shell and lots of potpourri and spice. So alive and bright, years ahead if cellared properly.

2005 Domaine Luneau-Papin Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie "L" d’Or
France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie
Young but showing a ton of attractive elements. Chalky, floral, dried herbs, intensely oceanic. Great cut but creamy body, lots to unpack in the cellar.
