Golden colour. Rich, toasty style. Nose of toasted white bread, some oak influence, some yeast, but not too much of it. Long, interesting, multilayered and massive on the palate. Citrus and grapefruit tartiness on the finish. Excellent and mature, with enough stuffing to keep going on.
Wow, what a difference from '96 we had just before this! Lean, metallic style as oposed to the rich and toasty '96! There was still some hints of toast and yeast, but it was much more mineral and tight. Interestingly, colour was the same.
Orange golden colour. Very few bubbles, seems more mature than Billecard CNF '96. Intense nose of white stonefruits, coffee, butter, toast, popcorn, caramel and orange or tangerine rind. Vinuous and very well balanced. Classy.
Magnum disgorged in 1999. Quite a lot of bubbles for a 25 y.o. Champagne. Medium- body, metallic and mineral, meat, citrus, lots of white fruits on the nose as well. Develops notes of walnuts. Feels quite young and fresh. Liked it much more than previous time.
Mushrooms and rye bread on the nose as well as salty meat. Soft palate, earthy with a hint of caramel, has its own character. Burgundian feeling to it. Certainly an interesting wine, but not a good QPR.
Disgorged in 2012. Spicy nose of curry and bouillon cubes. Light on the palate with soft red fruits, dried cranberries, strawberries with caster sugar. Quite good.
