Introduction

Tasting with Alex Seysses.

Flight 1 - 2013s Recently Bottled (From 375s) (8 Notes)

Flight 2 - some Older Dujac (4 Notes)

  • 2002 Domaine Dujac Echezeaux

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

Tasted at the domaine from 375 ml bottle. Popped and poured. All red fruit with lots of baking spice. Leather notes emerging. Age appropriate, this is entering its peak drinking window, so 750s will be less evolved. Moderate length, this is more elegant than powerful. Very good.

  • 1996 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

tasted at the domaine from 375 ml bottle that was popped and poured. Mature red cherry, big sweet is more sweet than Savory. Superb aromas with flavors almost as good. Great textures with almost crunchy minerality. I thought this older when served blind, but I think it's easy to forget that wines evolve so much faster in smaller format bottles.

  • 1993 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

Tasted at the domaine from 375 ml bottle that was popped and poured. Mature red and black cherry with moderate spice, and earthy, leather aromatic notes on nose. Another wine of great elegance. Once again I thoughts this older than its real age, but didn't really take format into account in that consideration. This wasn't as vibrant as when least tasted from 750 earlier this year.

  • 1990 Domaine Dujac Echezeaux

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

Tasted at the domaine from 750 ml bottle that was popped and poured. This was opened because two people at the same visit had worked harvest at Dujac in 1990. Red cherry, appropriately mature aromas. Powerful and fat fruit on palate with freshness and energy that made the palate seem younger than the nose to start. Quickly some notes of earth emerged bringing everything into harmony. A very good wine.
