Palest straw. Very stale and sweaty socks initially, but this blows off to reveal a nicely oatmeal lay nose. Nicely dense and deep. Dense and minerally on the attack, very classy. Dense but not heavy though there is a slight sense of its 14.1% abv on the finish as it warms up. Mineral line and length. Lovely. ****

Mid straw. A touch of tropical fruit, mainly pineapple, and a whiff of something herbal and minty. Really quite complex on the Jose. Fuller and richer on the palate. A touch of heft — feels heavier than the 13.2% abv quoted. Decent, very decent even, but made to look a little clumsy alongside the Bergstrom. ***

Pale ruby. 13.4% abv. A touch of configure in the red currant spectrum. Fresh, but a little loose knit. Light fruit, good acidity.something doesn't quite meld here. Fresh and zesty nose but an overly sweet and almost cola flavoured mid-palate. Disjointed. **

Pale ruby. A little fuller than the Phelps. A slightly sour-feeling red currant leaf nose. Fresh, crunchy light red fruit. Persistent and nicely focused. A touch of raspberry in with the redcurrant. Fresh. Complex nose. Lovely. Even, against my better judgement, a touch of rhubarb here. Elegant and interesting. ****

13.6%abv. Fuller ruby. A touch of configure to the more strawberry-fruited nose. Riper and fuller. Perfectly decent but a degree on anonymity/ubiquity. ***

Clear familial character across the three Laurènes, with vintage variations showing.
14.5% abv. Dark ruby to dense garnet. Dense red fruit. Quite savoury with plenty of depth and grip. Just a sense of dryness on the finish that spoils it a little. ***

Slightly darker than the 04 with a denser ruby hue. Denser, drier, slightly dustier fruit. Dark and savoury. Grippy and full on the mid-palate. Full and/but balanced. The best/most serious of the three. ****

Dense ruby but a little lighter than the 04. Dark r fruit. Nicely fresh. Lighter and brighter. Still long and engaging, though maybe lacking some complexity cf the others. Lovely though and shows well because of its relative lightness. ****

The Wright with the most ridiculous deep punt, heavy bottle and somewhat pretentious label. The wine however...
Dark red fruit. A little spritz and slightly cloudy too. Savoury sweet with a touch of something almost beetrooty. Complex. Lots here. An extra level of depth and complexity. Lovely texture. Very moreish. ****1/2

Soft, moderately dense red fruit on the nose. A touch cloudy. Smooth and harmonious with a bit of bite to keep things nicely in focus. A touch dry on the finish cf the Ken Wright, but more of a stylistic rather than qualitative difference. ****

Nicely smoky nose, very DP. Poised, focused, classic but very approachable. A nicely floral lift to the nose. Oh so drinkable. ****1/2
