Entry level red Penfolds. Quite basic fruit forward nose, of dark cooked fruit, and alcohol. Pepper liquorice and alcohol on the palate with ok concentration and length.

It reminds me at first somehow of a older right bank Bordeaux, that quickly goes away and more new world characteristics of ripe sweet fruit becomes present. Ripe tannins and dominated oaky flavours on the palate.

Dark sweet ripe blackberry and blackcurrant on the approach with combination of cinnamon and baking spices. A bit alcoholic at first that vanishes after a while. Big chewy tannins with dark fruit and balanced oak.
91-92 points.

Fleshy dark fruit the turns sweet with gorgeous spices of with pepper, rosemarie and green herbs. This is perfect expression of Syrah/Shiraz as it is not aged on any new oak but rather in old large vats. Concentrated dark berries with lots of spices and beautiful juicy finish.

A bit too young at this stage, but you can really detect its potential. Primary dark fruit on the nose with lovely Syrah pepper and spices. Full concentrated palate with a lot of fruit and integrated barrels. The lack of impression that this gave on the nose is made up for on the palate. Really fruit focus and delicious with a great tannin structure.

More fruit forward than the Gange 2012 even though this is four years older. 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon that starts of in a way that reminds me of Port wine - with very ripe to dry dark fruit with big intensity. Integrated spices that turns paprika after a while. Perfect balance, full bodied, juicy palate with dark fruit and spices dominating. Long and focused finish.

Warm luscious dark ripe fruit with lovely balanced oaky flavours of baking spices and fresh baked bread. The aromas of the nose is so perfectly harmonised that it is hard to let go. Dens, focused but somehow velvety smooth on the palate. Tannins and oak is greatly integrated with an underlying acidity structure to make the balance perfect.

Entry level white Penfolds. Candy and tropical nose. One-dimensional and not much more than candy and tropical fruit to offer.

More classic Chardonnay but somehow more old world than new world, with citrus and fresh green apple. Oak sense are quite present. Nice acidity structure and citrusy palate.

2015 Penfolds Chardonnay Reserve Bin 15A 94 Points
Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills
It is hard to belive that this is from the new world. So much lemon aromas, fine lees and wet stone minerality. Minerality is confirmed on the palate along with crips concentrated lemon. Perfect balanced. This wine reminds me of Meursault.

2013 Penfolds Chardonnay Yattarna Bin 144 92 Points

Sweet oak and lots of focused citrus on the nose. If the Reserve BIN A reminded me of Meursault, this is more North Coast California. Oily and not that crips, medium plus body, but good balance and concentration.
