Flight 1 (2 Notes)

  • 2004 Villa Maria Pinot Noir Cellar Selection 85 Points

    New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough

Clear light red color. Light nose with red currant and cherries. Similarly light on the palate, which is dominated by fruit. Lacks complexity and lenght. A bit too much like a fruit punch to me.

  • 2003 Beringer Vineyards Pinot Noir 87 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

Medium light red color. Not giving that much on the nose, primarily some olivies and some red berries. More concentrated on the palate with good structure and some strawberry and tobaco. Good effort that still lack some complexity and something I can't quite put into words.

  • 2005 Leyda Pinot Noir Single Vineyard Las Brisas 86 Points

Chile, San Antonio Valley, Leyda Valley

Dark, yet clear red color. Intense nose with red currant and cherry, and something kind of undefinable, rhubarb? On the taste it has similarly intense fruit and some tobaco. The different, unknown nuances make it somewhat interesting.

  • 2002 Georges Lignier et Fils Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos des Ormes 89 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru

Clear light red color. Complex nose of red berries, red currant and strawberry, and some dark mould and manure. On the palate it has more graceful elegance, combining fruit, licorice and bitter chocolate. Good long taste and very nice balance.
