Tasted Sunday, January 21, 2007 by Zweder with 197 views
This group has never been together before. Many people even never met. They only shared opinions on a forum. We were with approx 30 persons and everybody had to bring a magnum. We had a great afternoon and evening and I dare to say that this tasting probably was the start of several tasting groups; Of people who live fairly close together and/or persons who share the same preferences.
Coffee, mocha and some cigar box. Some sweetness and drying bitterness in the finish. All very mature, but also pleasurable. No official score, but for the pleasure now 87.

I post this note after Ken posted his, and reading them, my bottle must have been an off bottle. In the bouquet were earthy mushroom smells. In the start there was some sweetness and the wine was still juicy. In the mouth the wine is pleasantly soft. The bitterness was ok but the acidity in the finish was a little too much. A good wine, nothing more than that.

Very tertiary, but still nice and several nice impressions. Mushrooms. Quite much sweetness which makes the wine soft and friendly on the mid palate. Still juicy although the tannin is drying in the acidic finish. No score.

Little barnyard, mushrooms and earthy tones in the bouquet. A sweet start and soft and juicy on the mid palate. Tertiary but still pleasurable. No score.

Mature cabernet bouquet with cassis and good oak. Juicy. Chocolate. Cherries. The tannin is a bit drying. Fairly complex and a long finish.

Organic barnyard smells. Although the wine as a whole is not unpleasant, there are some strange tastes. One of them is rubber. The bitterness in the finish is not very pleasant either.

At first H2SO4, later barnyard and more complexity. On the palate a lot of thin acidity. Strange wine. Is probably too old. No score.

Mature. Full bodied and soft tannin. Ripe fruits. Some pleasant sweetness. At its peak and in beautiful harmony.

Beautiful complex bouquet with coffee and cigar box. On the palate ripe and round fruits, toasted oak, vanilla and soft acidity. Mature tannin. The wine seems to be completely ready now, but no real hurry.

Chocolate, blackberries and cassis. Full bodied. Good acidity. Good balance. No time for more notes, but this wine is in a beautiful drinking stage at the moment. The tannin is soft and pleasant, but still powerful. Will be perfectly ok in 5 years from now.

Deep/expressive bouquet with ripe fruits like cassis and other berries. Same in the taste. Soft tannin and a long finish. Is in a beautiful drinking stage now and will probably hold this level for a few years.

Extremely youthful color with still some purple. Chocolate, full bodied and complex. Soft and youthful tannin. This is a treat!

Purple red. A lot of fruits, mainly cherries, in the bouquet. On the palate young and friendly juice; cherries, blackberries and a little white pepper. Open, friendly and pleasant wine.

Juicy and good bitterness. A bit more firm than the 2004 Garnacha from this domain. There are cherries and a bit sweetness in the taste. Needs a little more time; 1 – 3 years I guess. It possibly adds one or two points.

Pleasant bouquet with some sweetness and rose-hips. On the palate strawberries, other red and black berries, vanilla and some pleasant bitterness. Might improve with a few more years of ageing.

Expressive bouquet with black berries and toasted oak. Sweet start followed by a lot of good juice and a firm amount of bitterness. Although enjoyable the wine might improve with another 2+ years of ageing.

Deep and complex bouquet with some white pepper. Concentrated. Has quite much (good) acidity. Complex wine which is a bit short in the finish. Perfect partner for an Italian meal.

Popped and poured. And that is not the right way to treat this wine. There was cassis, tobacco and cedar in the bouquet. On the palate it was juicy, but there was no real excitement. It was drying in the finish. Both this bottle as the one of my previous note were poured blind. This time it scored so low I don't even put the score in, because the wine deserves better. (The low score is probably the result of the combination of pop and pour and the fact that the wine is closed at the moment.)

Full bodied and juicy. Cassis, laurel, iodine, liquorice, oak a lot of bitterness and soft but firm tannin. This is still a baby. How will this evolve….? For the moment I scored it 90, but in a few years it will probably end up well in the 90's.

Excellent wine! A lot of concentration, chocolate etc. A promise for the future and might gain some points.

Spices and white pepper in the bouquet. There are primary cherrie fruits. Certainly a good wine, but it lacks complexity. Keeping it a few more years will not be a problem.

Deep bouquet with ripe cassis and beautiful oak. Same in the taste. Some pleasant sweetness as well. Youthful, but already a pleasure. Can use a few extra years of cellaring.

Some old age barnyard and earthy smells. All the tannin has completely softened. There is even some elegance.
