A nice night of laughs, food and wine. And of note, at 9:31pm Judy Blue announced that she likes Bordeaux - while enjoying a '02 Lunch Bag.
2016 Domaine de la Mordorée Tavel La Dame Rousse 90 Points
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Tavel
Copper River Salmon color. Drank 1 small glass over 30 minutes. Very dark for most southern France roses. This comes off riper and bolder in style as well. A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, and 20% Syrah. Bright ripe berries, distinct ripe cherry, robust, more subtle minerality. Good, though more California like really than Tavel for me. I agree with Mattshank's note too- maybe some off dryness here, although it may simply be how ripe this is too.

2007 Vilmart & Cie Champagne Premier Cru Grand Cellier d'Or 92 Points

Light gold color. Drank 1 glass over an hour. Baked apple, marzipan, quince, yeast on the nose. The palate shows brioche, red apple, hazelnuts, spicy with a spiced citrus finish.

Cracked this to go along with Judith's thai curry mussels, and a very good pairing it was. Consistent with my previous notes, tropical, tangy, balanced and delicious.

2008 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly Blanc 92 Points

Light gold color. Drank 1 glass over 45 minutes. This has a burst of sea air on the nose, white peach, lemon. The palate is medium bodied, finessed, peach, meyer lemon, creamy, dry lemon extract, subtle butter brickle and subtle wood on the back end. I really like this again - damn last one too.

2012 St. Innocent Pinot Noir Justice Vineyard 93 Points
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
Medium dark red color. PNP, drank 1 glass over an hour. Opens over 30 minutes, shows a very nice core of ripe red fruits, ripe strawberry, framboise, sous bois, and emerging floral notes. The palate is reminiscent of the vintage, ripe and a bit sappy with red berries and tart cherry, but it pulls it off such that it doesn't come off too big and fruity - medium full bodied with polished tannins. There is good depth and complex spice notes with some white pepper character on the finish. 92+ to 93pts and it has some upside.

Very dark red/purple color. Slow-O for about 2 hours. A very good effort in the vintage. Nice dark fruits, cassis, blackberry, quite earthy, gravel, smoky pencil lead, and a bit vegetal. Tannins are present and round. This is probably as good as it will be. 91+pts.

Amber color. Drank 1 glass from 500ml. Bright nose of apple, apricot, honey, caramel. The palate is even more impressive with a mix of sweet, golden apricot, apple, orange peel, honey, golden raisin, and a well spiced finish. This has a lovely weight, overall balance and poise. A worthy and enjoyable alternative to Sauternes. Mature and still with life.
