Introduction
Tasted a lot of Dunn Cabernet Sauvignon in those days. a precursor to cult wine status today. Several other Tasting Stories at this time all near my Birthday. It was a great month!
Flight 1 - 10 bottles of Dunn Cabernet Sauvignon (10 Notes)
Almost too much Dunn but interesting results looking back 27 years later.
Closing
Terrific wine from Randy Dunn who learned a lot from Charlie Wagner while at Caymus from 1975 to 1979. Charlie also helped Randy select both vineyards on Howell Mountain and in Napa Valley for his two cult Cabernet Sauvignons.

Dusty fruity nose showing lots of tannins, rich fruit, perfectly balanced with medium amount of soft tannins, nice, pleasant, berry fruit, lots of raspberry on the palate, long finish, lots of fruit, good acid. My #1, Group #10.

1981 Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 96 Points

Richer, smoother, more elegant and mature than many tonight, at peak, viscous, perfectly balanced, last easily another 6 years, long, rich finish, hint of toast on the nose, medium amount of soft tannins. My #2, Group #9.
