A really solid Dunn HM with lots of blue mountain berry fruit, blackberry, and vigorous notes of espresso, nori and pine. There is a supple red fruit note that is imparted by the (est. 15%) Oakville cab that was sourced for this wine. Approachable today and needed about 30-mins in the decanter to start to improve.
Excellent Dunn from 1986

Tasted blind after some 1970s Napa, this showed clearly from a different era - actually hot on the palate, with a cooked blackberry, black cherry, licorice, sweetish profile. Not quite what I'd hope and a distinct step down from the Howell Mountain. 50% HM, 50% Oakville.

Pretty nose with menthol, leather, red fruit, cassis, earth, and pepper. Good acidity with cherries, more fruit, leather, underwood, and just a hint of sweetness on the palate. Nice finish. This was very impressive. Starting to show some tertiary notes but there is so much fruit left. Should continue to age beautifully.

Perfect fill. Dark color with a rich nose of tobacco, graphite, dark red fruits, and lead. Still pretty tannic on the palate and coming across about a decade younger than one would expect. Great showing, especially for the vintage. Happy 38th, Joe and Bryan!

Surprisingly delicious! From art engraved and signed magnum. Ordinarily disappointed in age worthiness of old Napa cabs, but this Dunn was terrific. A modest stale sensation passed with an hour of air. Smooth, good color, mature cab flavors. Drink up unless you have larger formats.
