Horizontal tasting of 10 cuvees presented by Anselme Selosse
As always Selosse's wines are created in an oxidative style. Some of the wines develop (too) fast in the glass and ends up being too oxidative. However, the best examples are just perfect. My favourite is also this time Les Carelles. I love the "white Burgundy" style with mousse.
NV Jacques Selosse Initial 89 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Latest disgorging. Pale gold colour. Lemon, falloutapple, brioche, nutty, very oxidative style. Develops (too) fast in the glass . Medium finish. Harvested latex/more ripe grapes, fermentation in small barrels, 6 years of ageing.

NV Jacques Selosse V.O. Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 90 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Latest disgorging. Med. gold colour but nevertheless less oxidative style than Initial. However a lot of nutty aromas as well as brioche and bread dough. In the glass, the aromas develops (too) fast and get even more oxidative (close to sherry) as also experienced in cuvee Initial. 90+

Latest disgorging. Med. gold colour. Aromas are very nice like Version Originale but more refined and elegant. Nutty, brioche and bread dough. Develops in the glass and gets more and more oxidative but in a good
more slow and controlled way than Version Original and Initial.

NV Jacques Selosse Champagne Grand Cru Lieux-dits Extra Brut Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Les Carelles 97 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Latest disgorging. Gold colour BdBg. Extremely nice aromas of toast, brioche/bread dough, baconnote (yes) and a little smoke, apple, and nutty tertiary notes. Does fortunately not develop more oxidative in the glass like the other cuvees we tasted. This wine is definitely outstanding+, I simply love it. Again and again Les Carelles performs as my favourite when it comes to selosse. "Great white Burgundy" with mousse. 97+

NV Jacques Selosse Champagne Lieux-dits Extra Brut Avize - Les Chantereines 92 Points
France, Champagne
Latest disgorging. Gold colour BdB. "White Burgundy" style with mousse). Same style as Les Carelles from Selosse (which was - and usually is - my favourite cuvee from Selosse, also in todays flight). Nice aromas of toast, brioche/bread dough, apple, and nutty tertiary notes. However the wine is too oxidative for me.

NV Jacques Selosse Champagne Grand Cru Lieux-dits Extra Brut Cramant Chemins de Châlons 95 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Latest disgorging. Gold colour. Vines from 1921-22 and roots are 35 (!) meters deep. Again aromas from great white Burgundy - I just love it! A few oxidative notes but they are definitely under control and much less than for Les Chantereines.
