Incredible Selosse style blanc de noirs. Oxidative but very well balanced, quite ready at this stage. The nose is intoxicating with notes of brioche, caramel, peach, lemon zest, and buttery. Very fine bubbles. In the mouth the wine is super layered, with an exceptionally long aftertaste.
I could easily drink a couple by myself. Selosse remains an absolute benchmark of quality in Champagne.

At first very closed and not showing much. But it gradually relaxed in the breezy Spring night air after a couple of hours to display a daintily oxidized pinot noir. Subtle and elegant but surely better in a few more years. Otherwise, decant well in advance.

Oxidative nose, peach, honey, mandarin, and candied pineapple.
On the palate, the touch is exquisite although I did not expect so much evolution in this wine. It reminds me of a Jura wine or Substance. Once the oxidative veil has passed, the wine unfolds with exquisite flavors of mandarin peels, almonds, ginger, cinnamon and figs. This delicious complexity is revealed in layers, one by one, like the pages of a good book. Large finish on copper, with a majestic length which lines the throat with notes of honey.
Great champagne, with a very special Selosse style.

Piemonte: Truffles instead of Turkey; 11/23/2023-12/2/2023 (Barolo, Barbaresco, Alto Piemonte and of course Alba): My guess is this is a slightly older disgorgement but oddly it didn’t have anything written on the disgorge date on the bottle. It is certainly the more oxidative style. A wine that wants to be a wine first and have bubbles second. Interesting for sure. Also interesting to try next to the Marie Ledru where her wine had a bit more refinement in style and this was a bit more plush and extra. Still both quite enjoyable.
