France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Monthélie 1er Cru
Tasted at Lafon. Red and black cherry with near sweet spice, slightly jammy now, but already fun. Not quite as exciting as the 2019 vintage I tasted a few months ago, but not far behind.
Tasted at Lafon. Red and black cherry with some red berry notes on finish. Rich and very well concentrated, showing Volnay spice throughout. Forward and enticing start, more structured middle-to-finish. Very good length. bottled March 2022. 92-93 point potential.
Tasted at Lafon. Assembled since April, to be bottles in a few weeks. Bright red throughout, this starts with fun, spiced, joyous aromas, then flavors follow through on the palate. Very good concentration with brightening acidity on its long-ish finish. I am not sure which I prefer between this and the Clos des Chênes just tasted, both having 92-93 point potential.
Tasted at Lafon. Open and fleshy with lots of forthcoming lemon throughout. Bright and lean with good length. Good now, I expect even better in another year.
Tasted at Lafon. My favorite of the '20 Héritiers lineup tasted today. Apple and lemon on nose and palate with dancing textures plus good weight and length. Good now.
Tasted at Lafon. Bright apple and lemon, this has good weight and the richness I typically associate with Saint Véran. Also good now, getting even bigger on its finish. 89-90 points.
Tasted at Lafon. Lots here, this might be one the Héritiers highlights of 2020, but slightly reductive for now, so tough to assess in just a couple of minutes.
Tasted at Lafon. All Meursault cuvees were bottled between March - June 2022. From 4 plots across the village. Apple and pear comes across as so charming already now, with good+ weight and length. Good grip on finish. Good now, with further upside.
Tasted at Lafon. All Meursault cuvees were bottled between March - June 2022. Just as bright, with a big step up in weight and length. Wonderfully expressive with apple and nut butter throughout. Also very good now, better in another year or two. 90-91 point potential.
Tasted at Lafon. All Meursault cuvees were bottled between March - June 2022. This is a later ripening vineyard, so harvested later than most. A greater richness comes through, as does increased concentration, seemingly at 1er cru level. Apple, baked apple and almond butter all coming through. Very good length. Best to cellar a few more years.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Tasted at Lafon. All Meursault cuvees were bottled between March - June 2022. Lemon and lemon peel with a floral start, seemingly the same weight (at best) as the Village cuvees for now, but very tense, lithe, and slightly backward. Needs a few years, 90-92 point potential.

Tasted at Lafon. All Meursault cuvees were bottled between March - June 2022. This is the last to be bottled, in fact, Pierre went to the bottling line to get this bottle. Rich and fleshy while also so bright. Very floral, very lemony, very long. Very good 92-94 point potential, 2026 forward.

Tasted at Lafon. All Meursault cuvees were bottled between March - June 2022. Best intensity of the lineup, but the least accessible. Pear and poached pear, floral and spice, just backward enough that it is really teasing us with its potential today. 94-95 point potential, from 2028 forward.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
Tasted at Lafon. This had been Coravin'ed multiple times over the past two months, and Pierre lost it was losing some steam. Regardless, still wonderful right now. Dense and powerful with maturing orchard fruit throughout and savory spice. Long, still expanding finish. Wonderful 94-ish points, but I would be thrilled to try a completely fresh bottle.
