  • 2019 Abbott Claim Chardonnay Seven Springs 92 Points

USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills

This showed off a lot of reduction that didn't really pull back. Beneath that reduction though, lie some pristine and balanced tones of stone fruits, red apples, quince, baking spices, white fruits, toasty notes, almonds, pears, and white flowers. This is showing off excellent depth, though it's a bit coiled up. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and poised with tart, medium+ acidity. The acidity has some real cut at this time while the feel shows off a lengthy finish. This will definitely benefit from another 4+ years to settle in and really shine.

  • 2015 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly Blanc 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru

The nose is upfront and immediate with tones of melons, pears, key lime, apples, nougat, vanilla beans, toast, jasmine, and white fruits. This does lack a little bit of depth and is upfront with a lot of tree fruits. The Medium/full bodied feel is balanced and upfront with crisp, medium+ acidity. The finish lacks just a little bit while it shows off a friendly style. This could probably use a few more years to fully come together, but it also feels like more of a middle distance runner.

  • 2019 Tement Morillon Grosse Lage STK Zieregg 93 Points

    Austria, Styria, Südsteiermark

The nose is deep and poised with layered tones of Red apples, spiced pears, nougat, lemon peels, creams, vanilla beans, buttered bread, mineral notes, and tidal pool aromas. There is real gravitas to the tones that is a lot of fun to smell. The Medium/full bodied feel is textured and deep with balanced, medium acidity. The feel is polished and poised with a real lovely and long finish. This was a complete shock when revealed. There really is no way I would've expected an Austrian Chardonnay to be this good or expect an Austrian Chard in general. This is a great wine and well worth seeking out for any Chardonnay lover.

  • 2018 Domaine Francois et Antoine Jobard Meursault En La Barre 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

The nose is fragrant and balanced with tones of ginger, red apples, pears, vanilla beans, quince, toast, hazelnuts, flint, stone fruits, and smoke notes. The Medium/full bodied feel has the balance of the nose carry through with racy, medium+ acidity. The acidity has some real cut while the feel is slightly shy, but with excellent length to the finish. This is clearly a baby of a wine with a bit of fat to trim. I would love to see where this goes in another 5+ years as there is a lot to like right now.

  • 2018 Mount Eden Vineyards Chardonnay Domaine Eden 92 Points

    USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains

This pours a lighter golden color. The nose is extremely aromatic and balanced with polished tones of stone fruits, red apples, pears, nectarines, marmalade, toast, honeydew, and baker's vanilla. There is a lot of complexity here with a subtle richness that is delightful. The Medium/full bodied feel is plush and balanced with crisp, medium acidity. The finish really last as the feel shows off excellent texture and depth. This was a real happy surprise when it was revealed. It's been a while since I've had a Mount Eden and I forgot how good it can be. Well, I won't make that mistake again as this is a real classy Chardonnay.

  • 2016 Walter Scott Chardonnay X-Novo Vineyard 92 Points

USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills

This shows a dose of reduction right away, but it doesn't overpower the wine. Beneath lie lovely and balanced tones of red apples, spiced pears, meyer lemons, warm oils, key limes, white fruits, smoke, toast, and mineral notes. There is excellent depth and poise here with a lively freshness. The Medium bodied feel is elegant and poised with crisp, medium+ acidity and a lovely, long finish. This is still gaining steam and it showed really well on the night.

  • 2019 Yves Boyer-Martenot Meursault 1er Cru Charmes 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru

The nose is deep and lovely right away with gorgeous tones of meyer lemons, red apples, toast, kumquat, poached pears, stone fruits, custard, yellow flowers, and a touch of salinity. There is a whole lot of complexity and balance to the nose while showing off a more soulful side. The Medium/full bodied feel is polished and poised with crisp, medium+ acidity and a lengthy finish. This is a real banger already and there is still room for improvement. This was from Magnum and was a real treat on the whole.

  • 2018 Arnot-Roberts Chardonnay Watson Ranch 92 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

This pours about as clear of a color as Chardonnay gets. The nose is pristine and elegant with spring-like tones of lemon peels, flint, pears, saline, green apples, white fruits, acacia flowers, and crushed rocks. This shows off an elegant side with a silky Medium bodied feel and crisp, medium+ acidity. There were a lot of Premier Cru Chablis-like qualities and that's where I went with this blind. It's really lovely right now, though it could likely use at least another 3+ years to fully round into form.

  • 2019 Audeant Wines Chardonnay Seven Springs Vineyard 91 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

There was a distinct note of reduction that didn't really pull back all too much. It is a bit too noticeable at the moment while there are fresh citrus tones of ginger, lemon peels, white fruits, pears, peaches, apples, stone fruits, and some mineral tones. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and fresh with crisp, medium+ acidity. This really needs a few more years to come together. Hopefully the reduction pulls back a bit as there is a lot to like underneath the distinct match stick aromas.
