1997 Louis Jadot Bonnes Mares 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Stood up for 2+ weeks, sediment decanted off. Light ruby, age-appropriate bricking; aromatic, mature red fruits, some mulch and forest floor; light bodied, elegant strawberry and red fruits, medium 13.5% alcohol, medium-plus acidity to balance well, a hint of deeper density but largely elegant, not particularly long on the finish but well balanced. Comparable to my last bottles, will definitely open up a little bit with air. 92 for now.
Few hours double decanted: integrated well, lovely balance of elegant red fruits with now a bit more tannin and muscularity. Nice showing, though admittedly a bit pricey now for its quality.

1998 Château d'Yquem 93 Points

From 375mL. Superb golden color, excellent for its age; aromatic, apricot marmalade, baking spices; medium bodied, alcohol a bit prominent despite 13.5% on the label (tasted at cellar temp not fridge temp), stone fruits, a bit of vanilla, balanced medium sweetness, medium-plus acidity; medium-plus length finish. It's been a few years since I've tried this wine, and if anything this seems as young as ever and seems like it still needs 5-10 more years. Always a treat to drink Yquem though. 93+

Golden; medium aromatics, white fruit, slightly savory; palate is full bodied but lovely balancing medium-plus acidity, slightly nutty but not oxidative; long finish. Lovely white burgundy. 92
On retaste: a bit of tropical fruit like lychee, lovely balance.

Disgorged 2014. Golden color; intense aromatics, orange blossom, orange marmalade, slightly nutty; palate is medium bodied, vibrant acidity, lovely mouthfeel, mature fruit, lemon peel; long finish. Vibrant and full of life, exactly as expected, with life left. 94-95

Deep ruby; superb aromatics, black currant, some herbal, lovely; palate is medium-full bodied, superb balance, medium integrated tannins, medium alcohol, wonderful mature fruit; finish is long. Lovely with time ahead, wonderful umami. 94

Lighter color than the Figeac; aromatic, a bit of minerality; black fruited with some red currant, young, youthful tannins, medium alcohol; medium finish. Lovely but still young. 91
Retasted: good, but not quite as good as the other Bordeaux on the table.

Exceptional nose; red currant, capsicum; palate is full bodied, silky, a bit of capsicum, black fruited, classic Bordeaux character, not polished but well integrated, some mint; finish is long. 95

aromatic, red currant, lovely; palate is full bodied, elegance, well balanced, red and black fruits, integrated tannins; long finish. This is also excellent, just a step behind Lafleur. 94
