Medicinal and with a touch of cherry fruit but also balsamic vinegar and blood!

Mint and red currants on the palate but also some leather. Very impressive wine with a lovely balance!

Old and tired wine that is mostly like balsamic vinegar.

Dense and compact fruit with a slight touch of sweetness left but also a huge acidity.
Absolutely stunning and it still seems fresh and with a wonderful depth.

Still compact and dense fruit but also still quite sweet. Lovely acidity and it still feels like a young wine! Impressive!

Sweet fruit, red currants and marzipan but also a lovely acidity. Has held up nicely!

Raspberry fruit and with a touch of sewer but also a nice balance. Huge acidity and quite an impressive wine but not as good as previous bottles.

Red currant and raspberry fruit with a core of sweetness. It does however start to feel a bit tired, but it is still a solid wine.

The wine must have been flawed somehow. It still tasted like wine but it didn't have the classic Quintarelli feel and certainly not like the other 90 Riserva's I have tried. For me, this was by far a poorly stored bottle.

I am still in love with this vintage. It just has so much depth and complexity. Absolutely lovely.

Dark blackberry fruit with a medium sweetness. It is compact and in a lovely balance with a solid acidity. Great wine but not compared to the 97 Alzero.

Very sweet and dense but also a huge acidity. A "wild" wine with lots of personality.

A nice wine but I prefer the old versions of the Quintarelli style. Without the old-school sweetness, the alcohol seems to dominate to much.

Very special wine with a touch of fruit left! It is sweet on the nose but bone-dry on the palate!
Supposedly an "Amandorlato" version but it was not clear on the bottle.

Definitely, one of the best sweet wines ever produced. It is a special style but this wine is immortal and brings tears to my eyes. Another stunning performance!

2004 Giuseppe Quintarelli Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 95 Points

Has put on a lot of depth over the years and have improved a lot. A lot more dense than the newer vintages. Lovely and bitter finish!
