This year's edition was not as good as last year's. There are a lot of $100 plus wines that don't deliver.
I am going to add a 3 day note of a wine I got for $50.00. No disrespect to all the wines poured including mine but this wine is better than them all.
2010 Reynvaan Family Vineyards Syrah The Unnamed - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (4/2/2023)
Day 2: Day 1 not as good. Day 2 so much better. Black olives & pepper, spices, dark fruits, dust, minerals, graphite, floral and stone. No offense to all the wines sampled on Friday night including mine but this is much better than them and a fraction of the price. 94 points
Day 3: Wow does this wine have some life left. We are always talking about the Northern Rhone wines cellar for 20 plus but this wine I would argue is an infant. Black olives, stone, black pepper, dust, earth, exotic spices, dark fruits and graphite. Super concentrated wine and long finish. Everything is there for another 10 plus years! 95 points
Recommendation: I will argue no one makes a better Syrah on the planet for the money than Reynvaan/Result of a Crush. (95 points)
My wine of the night were the 3 Italian wines. For someone reason someone brought a $30 Barolo to a $100 tasting but that is why I like to know what was coming to the event first.
2018 Argyle Brut Knudsen Vineyard 90 Points
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills
Starter Sparkler. Nice but nothing worth $50. Apple, dough, minerals and mild spices. Clean finish.

NV Roederer Estate Brut Rosé Anderson Valley 90 Points
USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley
I prefer the Brut over the Rose. Strawberry, minerals, floral and chalk. Nice acidity overall. Again Roederer delivers for the price.

2014 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Bougros 88 Points
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
A bit tired tonight. Sour apple, Carmel, spice, orange peel and saline. Shorter finish. Drink now.

2021 Orin Swift Equinox Edition XVIII - Ceremonial War Mask 80 Points
USA, California
Well this will not turn my opinion about Orin Swift wines. Super ripe and not much Pinot Noir going on here. Smoke, ripe fruits, candied fruits, sweet floral notes and acidity levels low. Honestly not sure what is going on here but can't believe this wine is over $100 let alone $30. Not my style.

2014 Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 94 Points
Italy, Tuscany, Bolgheri, Bolgheri Sassicaia
Easily my wine of the night. Drinking well right now but has some time to cellar as well. Rustic, Old World charm featuring leather, clay, raspberries, floral notes and minerals. Well balanced.

2015 Antinori Tignanello 92 Points
Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT
Decanted 4 plus hours and showing well. Blueberries, floral, dried leaves, mild spice and nice red currants. Really in a good window right now. Drink now to 2028.

2016 Antinori Tignanello 93 Points
Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT
I liked this better than the group and this has more aging potential than the 15. Nice perfume, funk spice, Chesnuts, tobacco and earth. Featuring dark fruits. While young shows great long term potential. Drink this through 2032.

2012 Bel Colle Barolo Simposio 77 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
This is why I like to know what wines are coming especially when the wines need to by $100 or more. This is not and a very poorly made Barolo. Water, thin, earth and mild fruit. This wine is not well made. Worst wine at the tasing.

2014 Duckhorn Vineyards Merlot Three Palms Vineyard 90 Points
USA, California, Napa Valley
Welll wine of the year for WS not sure I get it but not a bad wine. Too much oak for my liking. Oak, plum, dark chocolate and spices. Maybe in 5 years it will develop more but not a wow wine.

2011 Mayacamas Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 85 Points
USA, California, Napa Valley, Mt. Veeder
This was not good overall and super overpriced in my opinion. 2011 is a vintage to avoid. Tasted like a cheaper Aussie Cab with Eucalyptus overload. Green peppers, lacks fruit and the nose is the only redeeming quality. Pass.

2012 Sine Qua Non Syrah Stock 87 Points
USA, California, Central Coast
Well my first official tasting note on a SQN. Had a few at an informal event with no notes. Not sure what the hype is all about but drink what you like. I am a huge Syrah fan but this is not doing it for me. This is not Northern Rhone, Rocks or even Santa Barbara. HOT wine with spices, cinnamon, dark fruits and earth. Not getting the pepper I so love in a good Syrah. I was glad to try it but not my style.

2013 Masi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Mazzano 88 Points
Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
Not feeling this wine. Maybe the SQN ruined my palate. Thin with light red currants, floral and some earth. Just did an Amarone tasting with WTSO and those were much better.
