Introduction

A truly memorable Trip to Bordeaux with Armin Diel and a lot of Wine friends. Including the TGV Trip via Paris.

Flight 1 (2 Notes)

  • 1990 Clos du Marquis 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

    (3/25/2023)

Quick note from a half bottle in a TGV from Munich to Paris.
Cork was soft and broken, but it did not impact the wine at all.
Bouquet was rich with cassis, tobacco and some forest floor. Nicely melted and integrated tannins, really showing the excellent vintage. No reason to drink up, if this good from a half bottle.

  • 2020 Domaine Yves Cuilleron Cornas Le Village 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas

    (3/25/2023)

Really beautiful wine it its primary fruit phase.
Bouquet with sour cherries and some raspberries, white pepper and some licorice.
Medium to fullbodied with silky tannins, I would not expect that this wine will close down and be enjoyable for 1-2 decades.

Flight 2 (1 Note)

Flight 9 (2 Notes)

  • 2020 Claude Riffault Sancerre Monoparcelle 538 95 Points

France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Sancerre

    (4/2/2023)

    Absolut brilliant Sancerre.
Bouquet of crunchy stone, some grapefruit and herbs.
The palate is tight, but with time an allways burgundian creaminess develops.
Would guess, it will positively develop for at least a decade, but why wait.

  • 2013 François Villard St. Joseph Gran Reflet 94 Points

France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph

    (4/2/2023)

    Pure St. Joseph.
Classical nose with some white pepper, a little leather, red cassis and a little dusty minerality.
On the palate, the classical vintage shows with good acidity, very fine tannins and a good length.
I wwould drink it over the next 5-10 years.
