Bordeaux Trip 2023; 3/25/2023-4/2/2023 (Paris <-> Bordeaux): Quick note from a half bottle in a TGV from Munich to Paris. Cork was soft and broken, but it did not impact the wine at all. Bouquet was rich with cassis, tobacco and some forest floor. Nicely melted and integrated tannins, really showing the excellent vintage. No reason to drink up, if this good from a half bottle.

During an exuberant wash down the 2020 Covid year with some good Bordeaux Lunch&Dinner. Tight, earthy, still some stingy tannins, precise on teh palate, forest floor aromas dominating.

Dinner at Brian and Sylvia's (Duchess): A real delight. Light for a 1990 but delicious and absolutely at peak. The nose was lovely, with gentle twirls of tobacco and spice curled around a core of ripe cassis and blueberry aromas, and then just a nice touch of damp earthiness. A really alluring bouquet. The palate was drinking absolutely beautifully now, with silky tannins and bright acidity draped over a wonderfully fresh mouthful of black cherries and cassis, these just touched likely with notes of leather, spice and tobacco trailing away into a light, charming finish. Elegant, noble, and really light on its feet. This lacked the weight and depth of the Grand Vin, but boy was it ever delicious. Wonderful now.

Still enjoyable with some meat. Tertiair aroma's and most of the fruit is gone. Passed it's peak. NR.

At home - birthday dinner with Mandy
Slow oxed for 4.5 hours, and then decanted to remove sediments.
Nose - very open. Notes of forest floor, eucalyptus, black fruits.
Palette - very balanced. Tannins fully integrated. Fruits and savoury agora is great equilibrium. Very enjoyable. Drinking at peak now!
