40th Birthday celebration for I

We were informed before hand Salon 2007 will be popped, so everyone brought something special to match. All the wines were showing very well tonight paired with the fantastic food from Yuki-san.

• NV Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée Edition 167eme 94 Points

  France, Champagne

  Pnp, ID 118002, gold yellow in colour, coming after old MV, this was fresher with floral, hint of asparagus, slightly sweet on the palate with hint of oxidative notes. Definitely could age for at least 8 years before revisiting.

  Limited information on the back label. Owner believe this is base 2004. Med gold in colour, caramel, honey, good weight on the palate, creamy, acid mostly resolved. Prefect drinking stage

• NV Jacques Selosse V.O. Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 96 Points

  France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

  Pnp. Disgorged May 2016. Golden orange with pink tint. Drinking beautifully now, hard to guess it was BdB with the colour and structure. Rounded aroma, red apple, strawberry, precise on the palate round and elegant. Acid mostly resolved and integrating very well. Superbly balanced.

  Decanted into a voss at 6pm. ID 315043. A little muted on the nose at first but slowly gaining weight, lemon, lots of structure. A little underwhelming for me but others love this. Nevetheless amazing young for a 20 yr old.

  Pnp. If this was blind, it was impossible to guess its age. The colour is pale yellow with tint of green. Lemon, citrus and the palate so dense and intense. Revisit 10 years later

  Pnp, med ruby, red cherry, lot of red fruits, full body, dense with lots of structure. Still very youthful. One of more accessible Vogue I have had probably due to the vintage. Cellar for at least 5 more year
