Burgundy Paulée with the Chevaliers du Tastevin

This was a Paulée of the Albany-Capital Region chapter of La Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin. Thus, everyone brought their own wines, nominally one bottle per person. The host for this dinner was Jared Shulman.

The dinner was held at Chez Mike in East Greenbush, NY. As alway, the food was very good.

Since this was a Paulée, there were no organized flights. I've grouped the wines in relation to the food courses.

  Mature nose. Rich and complex in the mouth. Lots of minerals. Probably at its peak. Drink sooner than later.

  Young. A bit oaky on the nose. Citrus and tropical fruits in the mouth with some overt vanilla and some spice. Could use another 5 years. 92-??

  From magnum. Mature nose of tart red fruit and autumn leaves. Juicy, complex, tasty, but more mature than I would expect, especially from a magnum. Still, a pleasure to drink tonight.
