This was a wonderful dinner with a grand Burgandian based menu from Chef Klein and his team. Fantastic food!! The wines were well represented and showed nicely. A fun redux after just visiting Drouhin in Beaune 4 weeks ago.

2020 Joseph Drouhin Meursault 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault
Light gold color. Drank a glass over 40 minutes at the Meritage/Drouhin dinner. Quite deep, stone fruit nose, pear, light minerals; on the palate this is rich and somewhat buttery, lemon, candied lemon peel, good minerality and length. Excellent. 92+pts.

2017 Joseph Drouhin Puligny-Montrachet 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
Light gold color. Drank a glass over 40 minutes at the Meritage/Drouhin dinner. Cool citrus nose. The palate has beeswax, umami, butter brickle, lemon liqueur, higher acidity, sharp with a angular finish. I wanted to like this more given the vintage, but there was something more edgy here, and maybe some unresolved oak.Definitely better with the food.

2020 Joseph Drouhin Volnay 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay
Medium dark red color. Drank a glass over 40 minutes at the Meritage/Drouhin dinner. Young, green notes, deep ripe red fruits, damp earth just oozes out, a little pipe tobacco on the nose. The palate has peppery dark red and black fruits, sleek texture, green earthiness, vanilla, tart raspberry and cherry. Needs a little time. 90-91pts.

2020 Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Rouge 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
Dark red color. Drank a glass over 40 minutes at the Meritage/Drouhin dinner. Gorgeous spices, black cherry, blackberry, tart, nice sous bois notes, still young obviously, but the fruit and texture shines already, deep and layered, needs to shed that youthful herbaceousness yet. 92-93pts.
