Pale straw. Fresh, limey, floral with lovely restrained white fruit. Beautifully elegant with a nicely reductive gun flint undertone. Quite lean and elegant for the vintage. This restores faith. Classic Leflaive hazelnut nose develops with air. Really very lovely. Village weight and length, but top villages. ****

Light mid to old gold. Gives the impression of being quite evolved. Rich nose, a touch of aldehyde but mainly about the beurre noisette initially. Rich and chewy in an almost visceral style. Similar to previous bottles but not given the chance to clean up and open up. Should have opened yesterday, but ultimately the wrong bottle for the occasion. ** only on the night.

Mid ruby. Just starting to hint at garnet. Similar familial nose to the 05 but with more red fruit and lift. A slightly meaty edge to the developing sous bois with some redcurrant and cherry. A nod to redder fruit, definition and more line here. Peony on the nose with air. Rustic would be harsh, but not a suave and sophisticated number, maybe lacking a little generosity of spirit. ***

Ever so slightly cloudy mid garnet. A touch high toned. Some sous bois. The acidity feels a little prominent. Quite floral with time against the farmyardy backdrop. Still a sense of tannin on the finish. Somewhat discombobulated currently. ***

Mid ruby. Lovely nose. A whiff of smoke and sense of early evolution. Really quiet together. Feels quite approachable for a 16, but strong familial resemblance to the 01. Really very attractive. ****

True to form. All sous bois and autumnal decay with mushrooms sprouting forth. Core of sweet fruit with a pinch of caramel. Joyous. ****

Mid to full ruby. Lovely meaty Nuits nose. Mellow, meaty, nicely fresh. A hint of caramel. Some interest here. Does what it says on the label. Convincingly. ****

A little fuller in colour, mid to dark ruby. Darker fruited. A touch high toned. Some spice. Dense but with a sense of fragility. ***1/2

Dense ruby. A touch high toned. Nicely ripe with some density and a savoury edge. Getting more savoury as it ages and it has now lost some of its attractive youthful gloss. Note quite as together as previously. A little here and there, though for my palate better than some would suggest.***1/2

Dense ruby. Attractive nose. Some Gevrey character but also a squeeze of citrus in the vein of old Rioja. Attractive in a savoury rather than flashily fruited sense. Measured and ever so slightly two toned. ****

Dense ruby. Plush and rich. Dense velvet. Spicy nose. Less expressive than the MG. A density, in some ways understated.. 18 shows. Needs a decade. Promising. ***(*)

Full ruby. Spice, dark red fruit, a touch of orange peel. Luxe. Density with elegance. Lots here. Serious villages. Harmonious and complete.****

Three to four years extra cellaring. Mid gold. Quite rich and broad on the nose. Mellow. Some edge on the finish. Decent, and better than previous examples of this. ***
