Thanks to Jeff Lewis for putting together a great tasting! Tribecca is one of those restaurants that us out-of-towners forget about, but they always comes through foodwise. Ryan, the sommelier, provided great service, too.
Jeff's wine, the '04 Colgin, came in first place with 16 points (two 1sts and five 2nd places), Jay's Aquilon received 2/2/2 for 12 points. Greenock Creek (Nano's?) received 8 points for third. All wines received at least one third place vote. The Cornas (mine, boo hoo) and the Ojai came in last with 1 and 2 points respectively.
In attendance: Nano, Jeff, Matt, Drew, Ramon, Scott, Jay & his Charming Wife
2005 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage 92 Points

Amythest color, truffle aroma. Fresh strawberry, less earth than promised on nose. Young tannins. Still angular

Nose of Bright fruit, cola. Light plum, a little spice. Some nice acidity but it doesn't all integrate on the finish.

1999 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 90 Points
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Some age on color, nose. Cooked fruits, a little funk. Missing acidity and stucture. Flatlining? In a dumb phase?

Color shows this is going to be a big one. Dark high-pedigree fruit. Long lasting pepper, new oak finish. Great acidity.

Talcum powder on nose. Sweet blend of toasty oak, overripe fruit. This wine was made from raisins!

2004 Greenock Creek Shiraz Alices 88 Points
Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Off-putting nose. Rotting fruit? Overly sweet, strawberry, spiced fruit. Syrupy, sticks-to-the-front-of-mouth finish.
