Flight 1 (7 Notes)

  • 2004 Château Latour à Pomerol 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

Dark red color with a purple rim. Fat blackcurrant, glycerine and truffles on the nose. Full-bodied on the palate with blackcurrant first, then it broadens out and delivers quite a bit of dark chocolate on the midpalate. Some glycerine, shoepolish and bitterness on the finish. Fine length with nice, well-integrated tannins, but I am missing some complexity.

  • 2002 Château Latour à Pomerol 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

Dark red color with a brick red hue. Fairly developed aromas of cherry, truffles, tobaco, prunes and some newly mown grass. The taste has some fat cherry and plum fruit first with good concentration and intensity. Some prunes, wet earth and rust on midpalate and finish.

  • 2001 Château Latour à Pomerol 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

Dark red center with a dark brick red hue. Perfectly mature nose with earth, basement, juicy blackcurrant, prunes, sweet truffles and some cheese. On the palate there is a similar sweet fruit of juicy plums, blackcurrant and plums, with good intensity and stretches throughout the entire taste from start to finish. Very nice midpalate and finish with sweet tobaco, truffles and cigarbox. It still has fresh acidity and lively tannins. Very nice and perfectly balanced.

  • 2000 Château Latour à Pomerol 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

Dark red color and still with a purple hue. Delicious aromas of blackcurrant, scorched earth and iron in a warm, sweet and inviting mixture. Good concentration of the taste with full-bodied sweet and juicy fruit. On the finish it has notes of dark licorice, cigarbox, iron and marzipan. Very pure and refined, in superb balance where the fruit stretches onto the long finish. Seems very well made, almost polished with the smooth mouthfeel, but one can feel the powerful acidic backbone lurking underneath.

  • 1998 Château Latour à Pomerol 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

Dark red color with a slightly orange hue. The nose has quite a bit of countryside, barnyard, farm roses, prunes, truffles and cedar wood. It still has a lots of primary fruit on the palate, with notes of red cherries and prunes it appears very elegant and nuanced, while at the same time juicy. On the midpalate and finish it has notes of prunes, tobacco, truffles, dunghill, compost and lots of charm. Really great length. Super beautiful and pure, while being quite seductive with its delicious aromas and taste.

  • 1995 Château Latour à Pomerol 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

Dark red color with a brown hue. It is dominated by rustic, tertiary notes joined by red cherries, prunes, roses and barnyard on the nose. Still quite good fruit on the palate with red cherries and well nuanced over the midpalate and finish with prunes, earth, dunghill and shoe polish. Very rustic apperance with a good deal of acidity and a bit rough around the edges.

  • 1995 Château La Fleur-Pétrus 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

Medium red color with an orange hue. Exciting mature aromas of prunes, barnyard, dunghill, vanilla and truffles. On the palate it is extremely pure and clean with intense red fruit and sweet prunes backing up. Loads of nuances on the midpalate and finish such as vanilla, cedar wood, truffles and tobacco. The best part, however, is the impeccable balance which makes this wine at the same time seductive, velvelty and dancing in the mouth with prickling acidity.
