Paolo is the bar manager - great guy - he also mixes a mean cocktail.

Looking at the bar bill which I have in my hand the Barolo is called Le Albe 2005 - nothing on the CT site though.

My hangover will not go away.

Yup - that SQN was not a gentle experience, although to be fair neither were the Italian wines we had either.

No word yet from Eric... I hope he was not thrown into one of your English gaols for disorderly conduct unbecoming a man of letters and excessive wine knowledge.

it was good to meet Eric again and the 2 new recruits, I'm glad I wasn't there for long with that list of bruisers, after a burgundy tasting it would have been a bit too brutal, seeing wines over 16% gives me a hangover before I even drink them...

A huge thank you to PJaines, TobyAnscombe and KingKanu for organising this splendid evening. It was great to see everybody and to sample the astonishing range of wines. The espresso martinis seemed like a good idea at the time although not this morning. I have just emerged from a slightly fraught day feeling a good deal better than I deserve to.

Most fun as always, thanks guys.

Have spent most of the day borderline comatose having not got to bed until nearly 4am then up for breakfast at 8am this morning. Fortuna was kind though so we basically drank the Margaux for free!

Will pop up some TNs when I have the energy

This is indeed disappointing and a black mark on all.

I'm sure it was sufficiently soaking, but as you know, we Yanks like our breakfast!

I suspect Khamen spent the evening in an establishment for wagering.

Yes, a very kind blackjack dealer picked up the tab for the Margaux (and half the Mouton!)

Oh - you see I am not a gambler. Good news though. Maybe you should drink and gamble more

Yes, all of the fellows easily made up for my faint hint of remaining sobriety.
