I went ahead and ordered 6 more of Domaine De Chevalier 2018. Found an incredibly ridiculous price of $65 at Saratoga (futures wine) and ordered a case. Of course I had to pay $95 for next day shipping but this wines are going to be delivered in the middle of the summer or around that time so no options and ground was $50 so doesnt matter

As per usual, I picked up some random weird stuff from Garagiste and winebid, but I was really excited to pick up a 6-pack of 2021 Knoll Gruner Veltliner Smaragd Vinothekfullung at auction. Its getting harder and harder to find that wine.

weird wine buy of the week is: 1979 Duca di Salaparuta Corvo Prima Goccia Vino da Tavola

So far in 2024 I have yet to drink even a drop of wine! I am virtue personified when it comes to consumption!

But on purchases, well, you know, I’ve had this extra time on my hands, so who can blame for buying a bit of 2021 Meo-Camuzet F&S, a little 2022 Canon-La-Gaff and a 6-pack of 2016 Haut Brion?

Right?

I've had the Meo-Camuzet Bourgogne on a few occasions but never anything higher up in the food chain.

Picked up a few bottles on the recent Carlisle release and will likely pick up a few more Sandlands with their winter release. Also thinking about a few west coast wineries when the weather moderates a little. Arizona Stronghold comes to mind.

I’m new to this forum. I joined because I’m trying to find anyone who likes Cameron Hughes wines. I won a prize bundle quite awhile ago and one of the items was a $300 gift credit for Cameron Hughes wines and I forgot about it until recently. It’s just sitting there and I’m not going to use it. I’m want to sell it for a discount. . .$200. How and where would I have the best luck doing this? Any ideas? Many thanks for any help.

Not here please. We don't do commerce as clearly noted in the pinned post at the top.

Perhaps you could try the commerce corner on WineBerserkers.com

After a visit to Casa Bacardi, I picked up a bottle of Bacardi Special Reserve Rum. It's a blend of 8-12 year old rum finished in Spanish sherry casks that's only available at the distillery in San Juan where you personally fill, wax seal and label the bottle. This is my favorite rum and the 4th bottle I've had the opportunity to place on my bar.

Ok, this I think is a first here : I bought a $10,000 tree today. Yes, you can say whaaaaaaaaa??? or you can confirm I am dead crazy, but let me explain.

I live one block away paralel to the most exclusive avenue in Monterrey. This avenue just recently changed density and building permits and now they will start building 6 story buildings full of apartments. This appartments will be my neighbors in the back of my house, so in the future if I want to go to the garden, play with the dog, or a bbq my new neighbors will see me. This is a MAYOR problem for me since I enjoy privacy. So, I went tree hunting so I can put a tree that will block most views to my house from the appartments. After looking at many options and a HELL of a lot of problems regarding the transportation, crane, and the hole for the tree we decided to buy not the cheapest but the most comprehensive package so we can rest assured we can sleep in peace and have no problems with fines, or that the hole is not made the correct way, or the bribe for the crane that is going to transport the tree from 150 kilometers away ( yes, its a logistics nightmare).

So , I went ahead and bought a 40 feet tree ( give or take) and 15 inches of diameter that will be installed I think within the next 2 weeks since right now is the perfect timing to transplant a tree ( or so I was told).

The appartments are going to be built in the next 3 years or so and the tree I think that by that time should be strong and happy giving me that privacy that I want.

Are you able to build a veranda over your back patio area to give you some additional privacy when you BBQ?

I love the idea of trees and I have planted several to strategically block the view from the alley.

I have a wall ! A 12 feet high wall. Properties in Mexico are between walls. Imagine a rectangle that is your propertu and from all sides you have walls, not fence. There is no way to get into someones house or property unless you intentionally jump a wall. Our zoning and way we protect from each others neighbors is quite different from USA . It has its good ( you never have to see your neighbor in pijamas or whatever he is doing ) but also it looks less beutiful as a community.

Eduardo, I love the tree solution. And honestly, $10k for a tree that mature is a pretty good deal. It would cost more in my neck of the woods. Depending on its orientation to your house (especially if it’s to the west), you’ll get some nice shade from it, which can help keep your house cool. I’m fortunate to have a roughly 8’ diameter elm tree in my back yard, on the west facing side of my house, that makes an enormous difference in the summer.

3 x 2022 Kevin White Winery 'Blue Label' Yakima Valley Red Wine (56% Syrah, 27% Grenache, 17% Mourvèdre)

At $22 USD from the winery, one would be [very] hard pressed to find a better value for a domestic Rhone (or anywhere in the world, for that matter) Rhone blend.
