the weekend has arrived.. Starting a new job on Monday.. Joining a Maine Wine distributor as a sales rep. smaller eclectic mix of wines. covering mostly western Maine. Opening my own shop was the goal when we returned to Maine but that doesn't look like its going to happen. this will keep me in the game as we figure our next steps. salary being a bit more helps as well. :)

Good luck with the new gig. We have to deal with daylight savings here in Chicago.....not sure if that's a thing in New England.

I could have used your moment of zen this morning, Tom. I woke up to the realization that I now have an 18 year old daughter. How the heck did that happen? Pretty sure she shouldn't be more than 6 or 7?!?!?! Man, does the time fly.

Wow, congrats, Eric! We're just a little bit behind you - my oldest turned 17 in January, recently got her driver's license, and is keeping us up late with conversations about college and her AP exams. Crazy. Time is a wild thing.

Still struggling with daylight savings.

Yesterday was 70° in Chicago so i was fortunate enough to get some stuff done around the house/yard and we continue to have track practice outside, which for Chicago is a bonus this time of year. Indoor season wraps up this week in a season that has seen us outside almost all winter....so bizarre.

Trees are budding as well.....starting to see green. Daffodils also blooming and spring is certainly arriving early. Feels like April 13th today, not March.

Just got pounded over night with more than a foot of snow and supposed to snow all day. We will probably end up with 18”-24” by the time it’s over. You can’t even get to ski resorts because all of the passes are closed. I-70 is closed from Denver to Frisco. Only those already in the area are skiing today.

Doesn’t look good for my three wine deliveries that are supposed to happen today. They will most likely come tomorrow or Saturday now. Oops like a stay at home and a Game of Thrones binge Day. We knew it was coming so no issues. And…we have plenty of wine.

Patiently waiting for our pleasant spring weather to return. I believe we had warmer weather in February, but of course it's still only March and usually the weather sucks which is why everyone goes south for school break this time of year.
Daffodils and Crocus continue to bloom and the fruit trees are getting ready as well. After a winter of almost no snow I am ready for some color around here.

No snow in Chicago (not much at least) but plenty of rain & wind....very Londonesque. It's seriously preventing me from enjoying the beginning of grilling season.

Anyone here an expert with Bonsai trees? I just purchased a small one. Going to try growing it under a LED grow light.

I’m certainly no bonsai expert, but did manage to keep one alive for a few years. Really, I have less of a green thumb and more of a thumb of death, so I considered it a win.

Tons of beginner bonsai tips on YouTube, but for some expert inspiration, check this out: https://youtu.be/lR15GyBEFZM?si=JV40HCNE0JCHVj-Q

The channel has just a handful of videos, all of which are good. What was fascinating to me was to see the process and just how “manufactured” the trees can be to get them to appear natural.

Back from a week in San Diego. I love seeing my kids but I pray they both move so I never have to go back there.

April 1st. The week of spring break felt like it lasted forever, but here we are. Cold wet and even some snowflakes to start off the week but they expect 70s by the weekend. Some of the early shrubs are already showing leaves and my Apricot tree has been blooming despite the variable weather.

Expect a few more wine shipments this month then the window closes. Cellar Tetris 2024 has begun....

It's rainy, windy and freezing in Chicago. Not good grilling weather at all.

Not sure whether to blame wadcorp or khmark7, but we are in between in Decatur, IL and got pelted with a hail storm Sunday night. It finally dried off enough today to see the dents, and yes there are plenty in the rental car which we picked up with 148 miles, now at ~1100. Claim filed with the gecko. Oh, well, worse has happened.

Damn. Not good.

The big hail skirted to the east of Kansas City. A few reports of grapefruit-sized hail, so you at least missed that.

Starting to warm up here finally. Now if the freaking wind would stop blowing. Moved the skiis out of the garage into the basement until next year. Three wine deliveries tomorrow and Friday so will move my pending list from 48 to 30.

Maybe a good traveling year this year. We have a Florida trip end of this month. Curaçao dive trip early May for 10 days and just booked a 17 day trip to Japan in September.

First trip to Asia and I am pumped to go there. A place I’ve wanted to go for a long time. It even motivated me to start learning the language. I have almost 6 months so plenty of time to learn a lot. I’m pretty good with languages and so far it seems fairly easy at least with the pronunciation. The three alphabets are another story, especially kanji which are Chinese characters I plan on skipping for now. My son and his wife are going for two weeks next month so will get plenty of insight. Sayōnara tomoyo.

What a coincidence. I'll be in Japan October 29th through November 12th. Going with two of my buddies. Guys only trip.

Taking PURPLE to Kauai May 16th through May 26th. No diving for us. ;)

Unfortunately we will be in Naples and Marco Island on the other side from you. If we get back to Delray area will for sure hit you up. My wife’s cousin lives in Boca so would see her too. We loved our last trip to Pompano and will go back at some point. I would love an Intercoastal house in Lighthouse Point in Hillsboro but would require me going back to work.
