Might as well consolidate a list here instead of having tons of threads.

When I'm viewing someone's profile, if under "Fans of whoever" I click on more, all it does is seem to refresh the page... doesn't actually show me more fans of that user. Oh, I just tried again and this time it just brought me back to the root, www.grapestories.com/  Likewise, when I'm on a user's profile and click on "Fans", I get nothing... Seems most of the "more" buttons don't do anything (same with "most active people"). Oh wait, the more button on active people just worked! I clicked on it, and about 20 seconds later it finally shows me the more people... hmm.

When I'm viewing my whole cellar I can still organize the list by score, but only the cellartracker score. Previously I could sort by any of the professional scores as well. Is that an option here?

When I'm on Eric's profile, it says he has left 6 comments. When I click on comments, it brings me to a page that says "0 Comments"

Another general vibe I get is just that navigation is kind of slow... I know the old site was crazy simple, but it was also really snappy. I mean both in responsiveness, and also in getting to the data that's meaningful (takes more clicks, more waiting now). I may be in the minority of users, but I'd prefer the snappy simple feel than the busy feel of the new site.

Loving the new design - great job Eric!

First bug I've hit: If I click on 'Price & Value' under 'All community wines' or 'My wines' in the 'browse wines' section, the pop-up window has an error message:  'unknown field'.

Eric, if there's a better place to post bugs as we explore/QA, let us know...  Very excited about this!

On the old site when I create a tagged list the maximum price and note fields for that list show on the wine page. In the new site you cannot see that information on the wine page, you can only see it by clicking through to the list itself. If you have a large list you then have to do a lot of scrolling and hunting to find that wine on the list, and then back out to the wine page to continue working on the wine. It's less efficient than it used to be.

Another issue to add to the bug list... when I edit the consumption information for a wine, the UI paradigm is suddenly broken, and I'm taken to a page that looks very much like the old CT edit consumption page (http://www.grapestories.com/editconsumed.asp). I can make changes no problem, and when I click "Update", I'm taken back into the new UI. Not a huge deal for the beta, as the functionality works, but the UI context switch is disconcerting.

Along the same lines, when I click "Total Estimated Value" on my homepage, I'm taken to another page where the UI paradigm is broken (http://www.grapestories.com/list.asp?Table=BulkValue), albeit less then for the Edit Consumption page.

Francis

Another issue...
clicking the field, "$80 and above," which I assume would limit the list to wines over $80, does not seem to do anything when looking at My Wines.  However, choosing the bottom limit in the "Price & Value" field does work.

There doesn't appear to be an easy way to get to the equivalent of "see notes written by my favorite tasters"

I believe the equivalent would be to see the notes posted by people that I am a "fan" of..

Two other issues:

1.  Maybe it was only a glitch with me as I saw others had posted "grapestories."  I went into my profile and typed out a story.  I hit save, and it came back with I needed to type my password (I had not modified any of the other fields); when I typed my password in the field and hit save, it then told me that my user name was already in use.

2.  In the popular wines section, when "Most Bottles" tab is selected, the "more" at the bottom does nothing.

Eric, it seems like a nice interface; will take some getting used to.  I assume the wine list print function is part of "Print" that is not yet active?  If not, I do not see how to print a wine list.

Dont know how to receive wine that I have had pending.  When i try to add to my cellar, i get a blank page.   What is the new workflow to receive wine that was previously pending?

I think I found a bug - when looking at the people list, the list by number of TNs displays numbers that are different (and a lot lower) than the number of tastings notes displayed for each person in detail.

smig,

It's not too hard. Drill down to the wine itself from your pendings list and then on the right under the my cellar table you will see:
# All Bottles 6
# In My Cellar 0
# Pending Delivery 6
# Consumed 0
# Purchased

Click on Pending Delivery

then you will get to a page that says accept delivery.

even from the list itself, just click on the wine and you have those 5 options on the right so you don't have to click "more" on the wine in the pending list.

I am pretty sure that those are the # of TNs written over the past 6 months.

I had the same issue - and noticed some SQL Server error code at the bottom of the page.

I found that, but from the home page, I saw Pending deliveries ...and said.  oh that makes sense let me handle it there...  but NOOOOOOOOOOOOO  Eric had to make it difficult.   Just kidding Eric, although it would be nice to take delivery of pending orders from the pending orders link  on the home page.

Several links are not yet implemented. friends. fans. price ranges. i am monitoring the SQL error logs and should be capturing the errors, but when in doubt email or post the exact link. there are a bunch of 'retro-ugly' pages that are noy yet redone in the new UI. it should be quite obvious when you hit one, although at a minimum I want all to be functional ASAP.

In profile, a long email like mine is trunkated. If the field could be lengthened, it may be better for long email addresses.

If you are seeing password issues it may be beacsue you logged into "grapestories.com" and not "www.grapestories.com" or vice versa. I have some more aggressive code on the cellartracker side to deal with this that I still need to port to the GS site.

I'm a fan of row highlighting the row I'm on when I mouse over it so I vote you add that back on the list of wines.

A little feedback:
I also don't like the drink dates tucked under the valuation. I like to quickly scan listed wines and assess the relative drinking windows - Much harder to do with the "three line format". I realize there's only so much real estate but the window is pretty narrow, (compared to the old version). Similarly with quantity - I like to scan the list and see how many of each wine I have and base my "what should I drink tonight" decision on those values.

I really liked the wide, one wine per line format of the "Wine List" on the old version. Sure it was busy, but everything was right there. Perhaps a link to such a page could be included for losers like me. :D

as this thread grows, it will be hard to keep up with reported issues...i don't think this one has been submitted yet.

i was doing a search of community wines to test out the feature.  i set some parameters with success.  when i select price/value, entered a range and hit select, i was redirected to my wines.  same thing happened when i put in a vintage range.

couple other comments/questions...

when selecting a type & color, sparkling is split into 3 buckets by color.  i can't search all sparkling to my knowledge.  is there a "style" selection somewhere?  also, when choosing a vintage range, it does not look like actual years and nv/mv can be selected at the same time.  so i have to do a nv/mv sparkling search separate from a vintage sparkling search.  and finally, is there a way to select multiple criteria from the selection categories?  i think this was a functionality in the old ct.

I like the new design.

A bug in the drinkability list: Columns run together when 100 point penatly is applied (especially when there is a 4-1 light color shown). It's hard to read (but my guess is easy to fix).

I suppose the other fix is to drink all the wine so there is never a penalty!!

Thanks for all your hard work Eric.

On the "Ready To Drink" page, at the top it says "Page 1 of 3" I click on the drop down, it says "Jump to page:" and I enter page 3, and it says, "Please enter a valid page number." 2 and 1 don't work either.

Also, how do I bulk update drinking windows on this page? The previous site has an "Update Drinking Windows" button, but this page doesn't. It looks like clicking on the drinkability figure I can edit it for one wine, though...

The drinkability report is clearly not done. It's a mangled combo of old and new formats. On my list.

Very minor issue: Since the "Like It"/"Don't Like It" votes are optional, if you change your mind, you should be able to revoke a vote (or set it to neutral).  At the moment, if you vote and want to change it, you're stuck with Like it or Don't Like it.

Hi,

Sorry if I'm just missing something obvious here... One of the best things about CT for me was opening the home page and seeing all the TNs written on wines in my cellar.

Is it possible to have that view on the home page? Maybe it is, I just don't see how.

Thanks,

Barnet

Barnet, on your home page, in the popular wines tab change to RECENTLY REVIEWED and then TASTING NOTES ON MY WINES ONLY. That will 'stick' for you.

By the way, I'm running Firefox 3.5.8, if you need the browser I'm using.

I'm also getting the same thing when I click on "purchased" or "consumed". The error ID was 623175 and 623177.

The site is awesome, by the way!!

The problem is that sorts are bleeding across views. You have a sort on that is not support in this view. I need to add some robustification here but start over at my cellar and then click drinakbility and you will be find. sorry this is a litle fragile right now.

It's not a client./browser issue--the query is corrupt. Remove the "&O=EndConsume" and it will work.
