I made it to Wednesday and then I crumbled.

And I understand the new LP Rosé with the new rose petal jacket will be released next week.

What chance do I stand???

Well, the LP Rose offer came in last night and I took it. No questions asked!

Now I am here until the end of the year. I am serious this time! I swear!!!

Let's call it a final hit for 2023. Unless some more Etna Bianco wines show up at a tasting event somewhere. And I 100% blame you for that new obsession.

Yesterday I moved my FL cellar to Cellar 55, owned by CTer Brett Laurvick and his wife Paula. It’s a great facility, and I’m glad I made the move.

But I just moved in, and my 2 large lockers are completely full! And that is only about 60% of my overall cellar. Seeing all the wine as we moved it (thanks to Logan and team) makes me realize how much wine, and how much fabulous wine I own. I don’t need any more.

It’s time to spend an extended time in here. As always, I don’t count wines meant for immediate consumption like most whites and NV champagne. But the cellar door needs to swing one way out for a while. And this time I mean it! (Well, except for Roy Piper cabs. And maybe VCC…)

Not bad at all! Despite my best intentions, I'm at a paltry day 5, which seems like less of a moratorium and more of a lull between purchases. I suspect my resolve will be tested tomorrow when I go to Woodland Hills Wine Co to pick up a few prearrival purchases that have arrived.

2017 Graham's VP 750 ml for $69
Some good prices on Warre's Tawnies and some other NV Port's. The Noval Black is a NV ruby that I want to try sometime and it was on sale as well.

My days of buying vintage port are over unless I find something with plenty of age to backload the cellar.

5 days here as well.
My goal was to be down 100 bottles in 2023 instead it looks like another year on the plus side. Sitting at over 1700 bottles and turning 66 this month...next year for sure.

On the one hand, I resisted temptation today and made no wine purchases at WHWC (although I managed to snag a bottle of single malt), but I forgot about a weekend purchase, so today I’m at day 3.

Really, though, I think there should be bonus points awarded for escaping a wine shop without any new (wine) purchases!

I resisted an offer of 70% off a case of pinot….my wife is proud of me, although I did buy a bottle of tawny to go in our new years eve casserole (that and the guiness to go in it as well won’t count, rright?)

What is this magical casserole that has tawny Port and Guinness?

Beef with pickled walnuts. Traditionally with celeriac potatoes and red cabbage, it’s migrated from boxing day to NYE

Since I’ve entered here, I haven’t taken delivery of any cellarable wines. But I have made pre orders for wines I won’t receive for several months. So I’m still a Motatorium member in good standing, right?

No purchases so far in 2024.

This is the year I am going to shrink my cellar by 100 bottles so I hope to be a frequent visitor.

It is time to open a bottle and get comfortable...

Going strong now for almost 7 weeks. Not one single purchase.

But, I think I'm going to ask for a ruling in this upcoming purchase.

Do I start over because I MUST buy a case of Champagne to take to St. Thomas for a group of 6 of us to drink during a week long stay?

I do have a case of bubbles, but nothing I really want to drag around on a plane and sacrifice on the beach.

If the purchases are not for you then there is no violation. So just tell everyone the wine you are buying is only for them and ask them to share with you.
