Kyser and I are bachelors this weekend

Bacon-wrapped fillet with rendered suet
Roasted golden beets with orange and rosemary
Sauce Marchand de Vin with Shiitake
Chive flower

2008 Lillian Blue Label
Blind, I would have guessed that it was aged SQN. It's the first Lillian which really fit that description IMO.

I first had pasta and artichokes in Todi with an American sculptor named Beverly Pepper. She used linguine and more olive oil (pressed from her own trees) than cheese and served it with a hearty local Tuscan red. Afterwards he beat my ass ragged with a Grappa drinking contest. She was a beast!

I served mine with an unoaked Chardonnay. Reds and cream sauce don't seem to mix well with my palate.

RR, that duck breast screams (to me) for a Pinot Noir of some sort. What did you drink with it?

I've yet to find a good recipe that actually has pot in it.

Wait a sec - isn't a burrito sorta like a meat donut?

Common misconceptions. Really, a burrito is like an exotic meat-and-rice wrap, from Mexico. Typically with some sort of salsa and/or beans inside. Other common fillings include guacamole, cheese, sour cream, and lettuce.

. . . and now you know!

So it's more like a meat & toppings cannoli then.

Better keep an eye on your pet starfish. They're trying to eat your duck.

We can help you with that! Wagyu pot roast. Your whole house will smell delicious about 2/3 of the way through cooking. Seriously great stuff!

No picture, but for Valentine's Day my wife bought me some Wine Truffles from Munson's Chocolates, made with wines from wineries on the Connecticut Wine Trail.
4 different flavors made using a cab, a merlot, a chard, and an apple wine.
They were as good as I would expect from Munson's.

This is the pizza we had for dinner last night. The toppings (caramelized onion, smoked bacon, green peppers, and capers) are mostly under the cheese, so you can't see them. Crust is gluten-free chebe, which is the only gluten-free crust that actually works. Not especially photogenic, but man, was it good. If Heaven has a smell, it's the way our kitchen smelled last night.
